I saw that.

At first I was surprised.  But outsiders looking in and taking into context our league home form prior to Exeter from Jan 2024, (don’t think we’d lost and won a big chunk of them) then you can see why we’d be made favourites.

I've mentioned that we hadn't lost at home in 2024 a few times, and we've seen some cracking games here  and plenty goals.  Jan to April at home was as entertaining as any period I can recall.  But I'm surprised how poor our home form now looks.  In league and cup, ONE win in 8.  And the win was against relegated Port Vale.  So on this occasion the bookies definitely got their odds wrong.  I'm not complaining, had a treble on Huddersfield, Burnley and City to win (3 teams that could all win the league) and got a ridiculous 20/1 (Burnley 9/2 at Leeds beggars belief).

back to basics 541 and a big lad up front. don’t change the management

How can we possibly play a big lad up front when we don’t have any  ? Evatt says in is interview after the game we don’t have a Peter crouch or kiether Moore type striker

Imagine betting against your own team.

And then being happy that you won your bet.

It isn't the system per se, it is really down to the decisions Evatt makes (or doesn't) during the match. The playoff final was really the final straw in a season where we were all shaking our heads after some matches. Whilst I don't expect us to win every match, from feb we got 30 out of a possible 60 points (which I know has been mentioned in another thread), and then the playoff wasn't just flat, we again didn't adapt to how Oxford set up against us, and then allowed them for 90+ minutes to continue to play a non-complicated (pretty basic pressing structure) system against us.

I'm grateful to Evatt, but this start to the season had its beginning in February. We need to change now, the whole place needs a lift. As much as I am not a fan of Allardyce, he would lift the team as all is not lost at the moment.....but the clock is ticking

I'm just not seeing it with all this Big Sam talk.

Neither am I, not sure Challinor would come, he's just building at County at the moment, would think he'd like a crack at that first, but you never know....at least Lampard won't come this far North :)

Oh god, I hadn't even thought about Lampard until now.

I bet he interviews well.

Be a great appointment personally, it will certainly give the place a lift

The bringing back former legends thing just doesn't work for me it just feels like a bit of a gimmick. I get what you mean about a lift, imagine the attention it would get as well if he did.

Tbh was going to say FV seem like they want to make modern progressive football decisions so would probably go for some young up and coming manger to start another "project", but not sure if FV are making the decisions now 😃

They say never go back as a manager very few examples of it working out David moyes with west ham won them a trohphy second time round and redknapp at Pompey but he bankrupted the club with is spending

Like I said in another thread I really don’t think we have time for another project (not with FV anyway)

some round the block type will do, people will laugh but I bet Bruce does ok at Blackpool when he gets going

That's the name that's been at the front of my mind. Whether he come down as far as League 1 I really don't know.

At least L1 has probably never looked as prestigious as it does this season with some of the clubs in it

Our impressive gates in recent times may also attract names that would otherwise be a bit out of our reach. But still not sure if Wagner would come here.

.... anyway we need to pot IE first.

Wagner's probably more likely than it seems

He's the right sort, is familiar with people within the club, and is out of work so presumably wouldn't require us paying compensation

His last three jobs have ended in failure, though
