IMO it looks like Evatt is surrounding himself with those who give the same message and who value and appreciate him. He’s wanting players to take some accountability for sorting things out even if it means some finger pointing on the pitch. Time will tell whether this reaps rewards or creates more division. Well if the players who aren’t doing it get a bollocking I have no problem creating division with them and Evatt should reinforce that by dropping them. They’re either all in or they’re not, no half measures.

I know it’s not cricket but if the captain isn’t there to do a job what’s the point of having one? Rico may well be a lovely and respected guy in the camp but I think we need a bit more than that. Somebody who can inspire or drive the team on the field and that includes the odd kick up the ass when needed. If new direction is needed Santos should accept being part of that without getting arsed about it.

Could be box office that conference actually. anything bordering on self pity or anything like that and I will be incredulous that he's still in charge

We're already struggling and we'd be taking out our best defender. Not happening IMO. Depends what's gone on. He's by far the most outspoken member of the dressing room. This could be the managers way of stamping his authority and blowing apart a clique. If he's stripped of captaincy, he won't like that one bit and either will his buddies. Ani
Team for Saturday could be interesting. Surely 2 in midfield has to be dumped. i wish 5 at back would be dumped but doubt it. GJ back as left centre half surely. Given 5 at the back I would go Legohead, Dempsey and Mteate in midfield , none of this fucking about with three up front. Then Mc Atee and Collins up front , maybe big Vic ahead of one of them. If we went to 4 at back would be same 3 in midfield with Sheehan and same 2 upfront. Lego on left, Demps on the right (maybe Arfield) other 2 in the middle. If we try 2 in midfield again it will be a sure sign of madness. itdiddidit?
Santos don't give me the vibes of a captain, he looks a bit uncomfortable with it all. Middle management aint for everyone. One minute you're one of the lads then you're sat in the middle of it all, with feet in both camps and also getting it in both ears. If they don't want him doing the role or he just doesn't want the job give it someone who does. Then whoever gets it give them a go and definitely a helping hand along the way. You can't get experience of a role without doing it first. Definitely then no disgrace though in then saying you don't enjoy it. Not everyone needs the pressure or wants it. The disturbing part, for me at least, is that the whole knock it around the back & get nowhere, is based on him. I wonder if by now he could alter that even if Evatt was to decide to ask (which I don't think he will).

Hoppy
Rob Couhig’s prospective deal to buy Reading has collapsed, raising fears over the future of the troubled League One club. Couhig, the former Wycombe owner, satisfied the English Football League’s owners’ and directors’ test but Reading’s owner, Dai Yongge, failed to complete a deal to sell the club.
