Playing in Islington till nearly 10pm on Wednesday night, noon kick-off on Saturday, near Gatwick. Recognising the two teams will have quite a few changes, do they return home, to go back down 24hrs later or stay South ? They are staying down there Quote

masi 51 Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 (edited) Move on to the business end of the week....Evatt has a big problem, how to get Collins and to a lesser extent Mcatee into his team. Going off last nights starting 11 it will be the same 11 who started at Reading in his predictable 5/3/ 2. Lesser of 2 evils too his fantasy 5/2/3. We have now 3 R/CB out in Jones/Forrester and Firinho and R/WB out in Desmond, yet he played Cogley all 90 mins at Arsenal when he could have given Matheson a run out knowing Cogley will have to do another 90 mins Saturday. Cogley gets injured in the next couple of games then we will have Williams playing at R/WB with Mathewson sat at home getting paid for watching Soccer Saturday. How have we got in this position...........Jones came back from Australia injured and Evatt knew he needed Surgery and he signed Firinho and Desmond knowing full well they are injury prone. Forrester injury was bad luck and nothing could be done about that but Desmonds and Firinho got injured in cup games when he had one goal this season get us out of this league..........Cup games are irrelevant we took risks with too strong teams at both Mansfield and Barrow and to a degree last night against Arsenal. Evatt is too thick skinned to change, and we again seen last night another goal given away playing it out from the back. We may get 7 points from the next three games Crawley ,Northampton, Shrewsbury at a minimum and three or four players will be back and everyone will be thinking the corner has been turned. I am not convinced we will get those 7 points, not convinced in his team selections, not convinced on his set up of the team and not convinced in his management team.......Only thing i am convinced about he wont be here at Christmas. Anyway sat 4-3 to us Charles 2, Mcatee and Collins one each and two daft goals given away between Baxter, Santos and Sheehan........Baxter redeeming himself with at least 4 world class saves. Papering over the cracks Edited September 26, 2024 by masi 51 Quote

Papering over the cracks In short we are going to win on Saturday but we are still shit? We should have put a B team out last and probably get fined in the process and let 4k travelling fans down? It's the managers fault players got injured? And you're not convinced about anything. Fabulous. Quote
radcliffe white Posted September 26, 2024 Posted September 26, 2024 Keeping the 4 attackers happy won’t be easy and the money invested in Collins & McAtee they ain’t come to sit on the bench, but Vic & Charles works so yes he has an issue there not even going to predict this Quote

Fabulous. in a nutshell yes but what its worth last nights team was about right except i would have given Matheson a run out. Injuries are not the managers fault but if you play Russian roulette sooner or later you get shot. Nothing changed from last season no except our squad is a hell of a lot better. £3m worth of signings on the bench. Collins is too good to be on the bench period Edited September 26, 2024 by masi 51 Quote

JDB and Lee are testament to that. 1 hour ago, masi 51 said: Cogley gets injured in the next couple of games Of course in our current situation some of your diatribe is valid, although repeated relentlessly. But as highlighted above not everything is a problem or should be anticipated as doom. Predicting a scenario where a fit player with a good record gets injured and then using that as evidence to go on with another moan is the work of a doom-merchant. The fact remains that he’s the only fit RWB in our league squad, and last night was not only a significant risk that he might pick up an unfortunate injury, but an opportunity to see if Matheson could step up and offer us a second option. We still have one spare place in our squad, and last night could have been used to demonstrate whether or not Matheson was worthy of this slot or not. Quote

Or maybe it was an idea to play our best RWB against one of the best wingers in the country? What the fuck is the debate here Quote

We’ve just given him the captaincy, his influence on the team is massive and can’t be replaced. Evatt needs to be considering this in the build-up to 5th November, just in case this happens Quote

Two of his Three injury risk players [Matete being the other] have been injured in cup games That is bad game management Quote
