The relative quality of the opposition Quote

Probably partly to do with Evatt's rhetoric during his tenure, partly due to how we set up, and partly due to the investment provided (again, relative to the opposition) Quote
Members Lt. Aldo Raine Posted October 19 Members Posted October 19 But of course a win's a win, and I, and I suspect most others, would have no problem if we played poorly every week and won Quote
Site Supporter desperado Posted October 19 Site Supporter Posted October 19 Great to see @tomski enjoying an Evatt masterclass 🤣 Good result going into Birmingham. Great birthday day out 👏🍺 Quote

We don’t do enough of it. It is good to grind out wins, especially if we're not playing particularly well. Apart from a couple of games, we haven't really looked great, and wins have been a bit scrappy. Could go a couple of ways: build on wins, and get more confidence, or stumble along and not win certain games (Shrewsbury) that we'll have to, to go up. I still can't get my head round the set up again today, especially playing Sheehan in a 2 man midfield- It does him no favours- and after going back to what seems to work for us. Sooner or later, we're going to have to get a positive result, away, at a "big" team though; to give that real belief to the players, and to help remove doubts within the fan base. Obviously we have to be pleased with a win, so tonight will be decent, but I suspect many of us still need convincing. Quote
W.cramp Posted October 19 Author Posted October 19 Kinel, 3 points is 3 points, some people need to realise we won't get 4 or 5 points for playing well. We make hard work of it but thats 4 out of 5 wins innit . Quote
Stig Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Right, that's the 5 easy games out of the way post Huddersfield. 13 points from 15 is a positive return but we haven't really learnt anything about Evatt or the team. You can tell the fans aren't getting swept up into thinking we're great again after these games, it's so flat. Rightly so, with the amount of let downs we've had from Evatt and team this last year especially. Next 5 will be much more useful to gauge us. We simply have to start beating some of the better teams in big games this next 5 or Evatt surely has to be sacked. Quote
Hoppy Posted October 19 Posted October 19 A wins a win but that was grim why does big Vic when getting the ball near the penalty box run in the opposite direction or run towards the corner flag! He has zero striker's instinct Quote

Being honest though, we've played very well in a couple, and still let goals in raising questions over the defending, and again today. There is still loads to get better. Strangely though, I reckon we've got more of a chance at Brum than others will think. Just desperately want us to turn a top team over and boost everyone. Will also send a message to the rest of the division. Quote

In fairness, you can only beat the team in front of you on the day. That also applies when we play the likes of Birmingham though, and if we can break that ceiling, then who knows. Quote

ZiggyStardust Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Shout out to tannoy* man today, with his 'The 4th official has indicated there will be just 2 minutes added' * other PA systems are available, and probably better than the one we have installed Quote
MancWanderer Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Shit game. 3 points. Next…. Don’t care how we play at Brum so long as we get more than 0 points Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted October 19 Posted October 19 Strange game today, defence looked all over the place and yet i thought Santos had a decent game. Quote
