Not the easiest game in which to get a much needed win and deliver a strong performance - and there’s no reason why Posh shouldn’t really fancy beating us today so my thoughts are turning to the importance of keeping our discipline and 11 players on the field.

I can easily imagine a few of ours losing the plot if it’s not going well and a red card and ban would be disastrous, not just for this game but potentially the season.

Score early and maintain the pace and it should reduce the chances of a sending off - which I’m genuinely concerned might happen.

Score early is what seems to determine our performances of late

Reading, Crawley, Northampton all good

Not Shrewsbury

Burton, could and should've gone ahead early doors when playing well but it didn't happen and it affected them

We need to score when we're on top good and early

Like Brum did to us. Changes the whole dynamic of the game.

Our performance is nearly always defined on scoring in the first 15-20. We seem to run out of ideas if we don’t.

Can't call this one... Peterborough sometimes score for fun or leak like e sieve... bit like us but I doubt it'll be a draw.

2-1 Bolton with a nervy finish

2-0 win for Evatt's flat track bullies......

If we won today I’d be happy enough to not consider it in the flat track camp to be fair. Posh are never an easy team to beat and with our injuries I’d see a win as being an impressive result.

Saying that, in our run of 5, starting with Brum, I had this down as a win with 1 or 2 draws in the next 3 - giving a shit total of 4/5 points from 5 games. If we don’t win today then we’re in real trouble for this run of tougher games.

Assuming Toal is back fit I’m hoping we’ll go with

Cogley Toal Santos Johnston Schon

Sheehan Matete Lolos

Charles Collins

McAtee in attacking midfield again like against Burton, or a return to the 3 up top... I imagine it's the former.

Have to score first in this one I feel

Yep.

Wouldn't have minded seeing lolos in there

Deffo.

But it's the same problem as weeks ago.

You can't lose a midfielder by playing 5 at the back then also lose one by playing 3 up front.

It's a total imbalance :(

Am I confused in thinking, that teams who play a possession based game, usually play with a lot of midfielders?

They'll be sandwiched in between our attack and defence.

Like being stuck in a moat :D

Back to the silly 5-2-3 malarkey..

Fuck me Ian I hope you've got this one right :(

On this occasion due to injury I don't think we've got much choice

Rather go with that than Arfield starting

If we can get a lead and then need to tighten up then maybe then bring him on

However

Could do with Dempsey and GT back sharpish

Imagine having 4 reasonably decent strikers, combined value ~£3M and not knowing either which your best two are, or how to get the best out of any combination in an overall match day team/formation.  Dread to think what the players feel inside about this each week. No wonder we have no rhythm.  Watch us win 5-0 today 😂.
