Really nasty accident earlier today- lad and his colleague were stuck on the motorway behind it, before eventually being turned round.

Sadly one fatality at the moment.

He told me of total grid lock on the A6, so they came back via trough of Bowland area.

Farmers escorting lorries on the minor roads apparently; folk mucking in and helping each other in adversity is great to see.

Just heard it on radio. Sounds a shocker and not far from another that was on the same stretch a few weeks where a family died.

Motorway driving is so perilous when you think about it. Literally an inch away from death permanently.

That bit between Broughton and Lancaster is no man's land if you don't know where you're going.

I've been at Royal Preston Hospital for most of the day. I knew something serious had happened when 2 air ambulances arrived in a short space of time

The lab we've been refurbishing looks out directly onto the helipad.

It's the area we were travelling along when I was at uni.

I'd popped home and my dad was giving me a lift back- November 5th.

Dog ran out from nowhere- lots of green fields- and we twatted it, full amidships.

It was horrendous- its corpse ripped open, and steaming. One of those things that stick with you for ever.

Taken me 7 hours to get to Stirling. Came off at Tickled Trout and went up A6 to Lancaster. Barely moving. Seemed a lot worse heading south.

M6 has been really bad recently for crashes north of Preston when for years I found it the best bit of Motorway in the country

Sad to hear it was a fatal crash

It happened about half a mile in front of the wife, I briefly thought about looking at our (well, her) life insurance policy 😉

Having seen the images, it's a wonder how there's only one fatality.

Cheered me right up that after a long day at work :D

I fucking hate motorways

I prefer driving on Motorways than normal roads.

Problem is dickheads not paying attention and/or driving like dickheads.

Fucking ridiculous today

Theres a 30mph section on the M74. Bloke in a van came steaming in at 70, saw the average camera, slammed on his brakes and completely stopped obviously hoping to drop his average speed. Basically, fuck anyone behind him

You're welcome!

I know what you mean; those "homoerotic" images you seem to have an endless supply of, are wonderfully mood boosting. 🤮😁

I can always DM some more if you want pal :D

Having seen the mental behaviour on the Autobahn out motorways are an oasis of calm in comparison.

That being said apart from the run from Stuttgart to Frankfurt (which was like the M60 at rush hour for the full 2 1/2 HR drive) they seemed to run much easier.

I went to Watford yesterday. Set off around 06.30 and got to Watford at 10.00. On the way back I decided to ignore the “Toll road clear” signs and go straight up the M6 through Birmingham. I’ve decided, the Highways Agency just create pockets of congestion. A 40mph suddenly appears in the Smart Motorway sections. You drive through and there was just no need. On one section you could actually see the next overhead gantry displaying the National Speed Limit sign despite the one your approaching limiting you to 50!
I just wonder if they’re doing their utmost to make the M6 an unattractive option in order to push more vehicles onto the M6 Toll at around £9.50/car.

I was down by Wolverhampton last Friday afternoon for a funeral, could not face that drive with rush hour traffic on way back so got train.

Northbound M6 is usually decent after the Preston area M55 interchange, however there was a recent head on with someone on the wrong carriageway and i myself witnessed an oldish geezer in shirt & tie driving a Volvo estate south on the northbound carriageway, hugging the central barrier.

Luckily it was a bright day and reasonable quiet.

Is there an awkward or confusing junction somewhere up that way??.

I'd guess it's the M55 junction from the new Edith Rigby Way bypass. I can see how it could be a bit confusing for first-time users.

M6 is shite, always has been

J17-19

always crashes

the way cars come off Knutsford services onto the motorway whilst folk are trying to get off at J19 has led to plenty of crahses over the years

A1m at scotch corner has a few incidents of people going down the wrong slip road and ending up heading south on the northbound, you wonder how??, but if you think how pushy other drivers are and the amount of foreign drivers, if you're unsure you tend to keep going till its too late.

Service stations are prime candidates for people not paying attention and going back the way they came , but I’ve also seen people trying to turn onto exit slips all over the place , just lack of attention or listening to sat nav’s saying take next left , when it means the next legal left or left in 300 yds or whatever

gator teeth barriers the only way to stop it but the number of incidents don’t justify it but service stations should be made to install them imo
