  • That was pathetic, abject, depressing, slow, inept, cowardly, and utterly humiliating. I'm one of the so-called "happy clappers", but it's clearly time for a refresh.

When a manager is under pressure and debate is raging about him there’s always A defining moment when everyone agrees it’s time to put an end to it. Today was that moment.   anything that comes

  • They simply have to pull the trigger now. A new manager coming in at this point has plenty of time and a decent amount of points on the board to build a promotion charge. We should be right

I'd genuinely say its the first thing we need, once we've got a new manager.  No way is that forward line winning enough of the ball, aerially or on the deck with back to goal, to trouble the better teams in L1, IMO.

I'd say Mcatee and Dion would be a great partnership in a 442.

McAtee dropping deep and getting balls away.

We need some full backs and wingers.

When evatt goes I don't ever want to see us play 5 at the back again.

Ever.

Even Said to my lad he sounds like Thor.

So if some schmuck like me in the ESL can sense the danger why can’t progressional footballers were watching not?

More rejoicing in heaven... Welcome aboard!

Desperado for next manager

your first selection with McAtee a free role up top rather than Charles and we would rip them apart

Hang on I want to see how he sets up to defend set pieces first 😀

No rejoicing here, and I'm definintely not boarding your ship.

I’d re-hire Craddock 😁

Whoosh over your head, or just cranky?

A new manager for a start lifts the mood across the supporters. I think it does the same for the players. As the subs came on yesterday they were all pointing and it was clear there was no clear plan of what we were doing.

A few new ideas in training, let’s be honest it must be a terrible atmosphere in there at the moment, sure we have all worked at places where staff morale is shot and it needs some type of change to lift spirits.

We can talk about character and application as much as we want but can see the confidence draining out of players as since the start of the season. Evatt has put the squad together but is failing to get the best out of the squad and has been failing to do so  for months now.

I have said before as the team has progressed players who were good enough in League 2 are not good enough for League 1, the same seems to apply to the Manager.

I noticed yesterday no men marking the edge of the box again and I said to the word “aasgaard on the edge there must be creaming himself if this drops out to him” 5 seconds later… Sat up for him like he could’ve only dreamed of. Chest and wallop. Luckily right at Baxter.

Exactly.  Its schoolboy stuff, there's a top striker for this level on the edge of our box, let's clear the ball to him and give him time to tee up an uncontested volley.  Its things like that, going back to the Shrewsbury one last season and beyond, that just make a mockery of why anyone was ever in his camp in the last 12 months.  How can a coach like that, on top of all his other well documented shortcomings, get anywhere (aside from beating the teams with about a quarter of our budget)?

I was cursing you yesterday. Wigan colleague messaged me creaming over Aasgaard after the winner, after I’d told him he was off to Stoke in the summer.

Pretty sure I’d read off here from a post of yours

I do "get" McAtee and its no criticism of him but I was a bit disappointed when I first saw him for us that he wasn't a physical player, I don't think I've ever seen him compete for a header never mind win one, just like Vic.  Its not McAtee's game, and the reality is a lot of balls get pumped upto the striker(s), in 90% of games all through the leagues, there needs to be someone with physical presence to get on the end of them.

I like what Collins, McAtee and Charles contribute on their good days but if we're playing Wycombe, Birmingham, Wrexham, Huddersfield etc they'd get brushed aside by bigger players, we need some physicality like what they have.

I think we have full backs and wingers they just can’t play wingback

I strangely didn't even feel that antagonistic with Wigan yesterday.

I felt like the atmosphere around the ground was a lot more subdued than last year, a foreboding feeling pre match

Aye it was me had it on good authority from down there he was on his way. Never got my attention really always thought he was too hit and miss but ran Matete a merry dance. Wish he had fucked off

😂👍

FWIW through gritted teeth I think he’s a pretty decent player at this level, not sure about the championship mind. Just our luck that he’s been inconsistent and out of the team the last few weeks, primed for his return and winning goal at our place 😡

Said exactly the same yesterday. And I said the same when they beat us at their place last year and they were celebrating in front of us.

It is their cup final every time they play us and they’re bang up for it. Winning for them is everything. Evatt isn’t preparing our team for a cup final and seems bemused by our mental inability to cope.

We’re totally underprepared and we’re underperforming as a result. That’s not down to the players, that’s down to the management.

I think the players are weak. You don’t challenge for titles on skill alone. A weak mindset will always make you struggle.

And the skills bit is questionable too. Constantly making terrible passes and giving the ball away on Saturday.

Don’t really get this nonsense about us having a top squad. We are lacking in so many areas.

That said, I’m desperate to see them do well.

At last you are seeing sense....In the forward line and not wanting five at the back....We already have decent wide men who could play wide in a midfield 4, two out of Schon, Desmond, Dempsey and Collins wide. Conway/Johnston as a left back and Jones/cogley at right back is decent.
