We need some steel in the middle, preferably two full backs, some pace out wide and big lad up top.

Focus will be on the first and last of those I reckon. If we didn't change formation last night we won't do it the rest of the season.

In a 532 a strong midfielder and striker who can hold the ball up would make a difference though.

But but but, Evatts an arrogant cunt. He’s stubborn. He hates the fans.

He was really nasty to Dapo.

Now he’ll sell Morley because he doesn’t want to admit he was wrong

He’s just a really bad man.

Looking at the situation with Morley, I think Evatt tried to make him something he isn't. Understandably so initially, but it probably spoiled him to a degree.

Bizarre contract extension if Evatt wasn't going to play him, but the lad wanted out, so it does seem likely he'll go.

Incrediably he hardly touched the ball last night. Not fot the 1st time. When he does he struggles to control it.

His staple move is to receive the ball about 40yds out with his back to goal. He then miss controls the ball and loses it. Or, he thrutches to control it then prods it either backwards or sideways. Generally,  that's what he does.....

I think Morley’s contract extension was around the same time Dempsey and Thomason had extensions / improved offers and there was an element of keeping him happy.

I think Morley is a good technical player. Solid at League One level. Agree he probably doesn’t quite fit what Evatt wants but he definitely played a role in establishing us at this level.

Only Wycombe can buy him this window, which will allow them to force price down. But I reckon he’ll go for around £250k (which will be described as ‘undisclosed’ no doubt)

I understand his options are limited in January but not sure that's the way it works.

We may have agreed a price with them at the start of his loan.  We could force his price up by threatening to recall him.

They didn't look promotion material on last nights showing without him.

Ultimately his value is what the 2 clubs agree.  FWIW I reckon your £250k isn't that wide of the mark but we may want a sell on clause (he's only 24 and could improve).

We could only threaten to recall him if we'd negotiated a recall clause at the outset

All the commentary around it from Iles suggests we do have a recall in Jan option

£250k plus a promotion clause along with a sell on. He’s still young and could yet still improve with regular games especially at a higher level.

Evatt's interview on the matter a while back suggested all options were open.

Even a hint of not helping a team above us.

Was in the BN a bit back.

Morley wanted to go on loan to play and recover his form. He was shit last season. He seems to have rediscovered his form so bring him back.

Pay up Arfields contract.

But don’t we only have one spare slot in the squad ? So if we sign 2 or 3 does it mean a couple will need to go ?

I have this faint hope we bring Magohma back

Got 25 minutes for Brentford today though

I'll give you a bang average wank if that happens.

I don't see any point in keeping Arfield on - he's completely shot. Get Morley back in AND add a midfielder with Arfield's space, or sell him and get 2 in.

A big target man would then need a sale to open up a squad space but moving Vic on if possible should be a no brainer.

I think the Arfield suggestion makes sense.

He's not going to be a regular, and barely a bit part player.

Wouldn't have thought he's on a huge wedge neither.

We have 1 midfield player available v Barnsley. Still be surprised if he plays.

Oh shit is Matete suspended? Was that the last game before the cut-off? Gees that’s bad if so

We do have Sharples who's supposedly part of the first team squad now

He's added the youngster to the first team squad now, so I see Arfield as unlikely to be required.

In the extreme circumstances we may be faced with Sharples-Ahmed surely would be given some part to play, having had that promotion. Otherwise it seems rather pointless.

We won’t sell Morley to Wycombe in January. We’ll just leave him on loan.

Unlike Santos, it won’t affect his value at season end, because he will remain under contract to us. If Wycombe go up, we’ll command a higher fee. Either because they’re now a Championship club or because others offer competing bids. Lastly, he won’t be able to play in the return match against us, which could be crucial if we’re still battling with them.

It would be madness leaving him on loan to a rival. It has to be a sell or recall for me. The optics are just not good if he's there on loan and they finish above us
