Apologies if already been mentioned but I have a feeling we will sell Morley and possibly Sheehan to help fund a move for Luca Connell. He’s exactly what we are missing

I’d love Luca back but I wonder if it’s Sheehan who will be going and Morley back to replace him now he’s found his mojo again? On the other hand what about a swop Morley for Kone who they signed for nothing?

Connell is levels above the pair of them.

He's alright but if he was he'd be playing for a better side than Barnsley. Sheehan's played and held his own in international football this season.

I don't really rate Nlundulu, but I'd rather he filled a spot in the squad than Arfield.

Signing Arfield makes no sense whichever way you look at it. If you want an old head around the squad, we might as well have kept Cameron Jerome.

Makes sense to Chris Markham - isn’t he his mate?

So he's off on a permanent deal then, "undisclosed" (about £250k)

And don’t forget add ons if they go up another 50k maybe .  Saying that there owned by a billionaire now so 2 million minimum

Opinions differ I suppose. Connell seems to have matured into a very good player, range of passing, vision, not afraid to get stuck in and was recently made captain.

it’s only a matter of time before he steps up a division.

With us next year hopefully? 😁

Sheehan, connell and Tomo would be outstanding

That would depend which match it is.  Tomo can be outstanding, then a liability giving the ball and fouls away cheaply.  Sheehan can be outstanding, then completely anonymous and weak in the bigger games.

That midfield would still lack someone that can beat a man and/or drive forward with the ball - a Maghoma or even Dempsey, or CMG.  I really rate Connell but it would be 2 of those 3 for me (with our injury and suspension record, that's a problem we wouldn't have very often).

Sheehan is more anonymous in games than Morley ever was. I know there’s plenty of Sheehan fans on here but I just don’t get it.

Normally after a few hard tackles. And most matches he's clearly targeted.

Our players do seem to have a fear of running at people, lose the ball on a bad pass is acceptable, but putting pressure on amd losing it appears not to be..

Evatt’s latest comments on transfer activity. Interesting he comments on  Ludonautics input “for the first time”

The transfer window opens in just over a week. How are things shaping up?

We have had several good meetings and conversations. We have had a lot of input from Ludonautics for the first time really. Chris (Markham) has had a few meetings which, hopefully, are going to be important for us. There are some big decisions to be made, of course, and we want to bolster the squad.

But as I have said before, the most important thing for me is that we move the needle up on the team. The starting XI has to be improved and that is where our focus is. As always, the board are trying to help us as best as they can and, fingers crossed, you will see some exciting things coming through the door.

I so want Ian to trust Ian on this but I just can’t help feeling that it will be more of the same because of the way he thinks. I hope I’m wrong and any signings really are exciting but sadly we’ve heard all that before. If they’re like Paris and Bradley then fair enough so let’s hope they are. 🎅😉

I’d leave bang average and average after January out of the exciting comment……..and replace with Trafford.

In an interview IE described his own style of play as ‘no nonsense centre half’ . He then went to say ‘something along the lines of ‘ the type of player I would not sign.’

I only ‘heard’ the interview as repeated by a journalist so assume it was quite tongue in cheek, but it does sum up the issue I have with him. All teams need a scattering of ‘no nonsense’ players. The week in week out 7 or 8 out of ten players.

And that’s exactly my fear Ani. That Evatt has learned nothing from our last few seasons and will just continue to recruit the same type of tippy tappy weakness he profiles which will change nothing. I want to be surprised and believe that he has learned and brings in some players with a bit of backbone and bite because we really do need that.

In fairness to Evatt this time he has said he will bring two perhaps three players who will  go straight into the team

We are still waiting for players who he signed last summer. Firino, Desmond, Arfield and Lolos  have not started a combined 10 games this season. Southwood looks decent but he is second choice. Matete hit and miss and starts only when we have at least two out injured.  Schon is lost at wingback especially on the right and Mcatee will never be a midfielder.

Evatt has not used the word exciting when bringing a player in since he brought the enigma Maddison a season or two back.

Another disaster

It does seem that IE keeps getting another transfer window to put right the previous one, and the one before that.  How long does this go on, limping through to the next opportunity to bring in more players and spend more money.  I would have thought number one priority was having a good manager that can organise a team to play as a unit especially defensively, and maybe have flexibility to play more than just 5 at the back occasionally.

But we'll limp on to the end of the season instead always thinking we might just win the next couple of games to give ourselves a chance of the play offs, which now seems to be our aim rather than promotion.
