freds dad Posted February 2 Posted February 2 First home match for SS and his team. It will be interesting to see what if any changes are made by SS after he has had a week to work with the players. Crawley gave Wrexham a game on Saturday and were only beaten by a 95th minute winner. Although they are in the bottom four it won’t be as easy as some folk think or hope it will be. A scrappy 3-2 victory Quote

Wanderlust Posted February 2 Posted February 2 No excuses for this one. We'll see what we've got seeing as we really can't afford to drop any more points if we seriously want to get into the playoffs. Quote
tshape Posted February 2 Posted February 2 In Glasgow for a gig. Couldn't have cared less about missing it when I checked fixtures a few months ago. Gutted now. Quote

An early goal would be great but I have to admit that I can never relax until we have a two goal lead and even then my arse is twitchy. That said, our recent defensive performances are about as much as we can ask for this season and worryingly, I'm starting to feel more confident that we can defend a lead barring a worldy or a nasty deflection which can always happen. Above all, I'll be looking out for a better performance and signs that Schuey's influence is having a positive effect - but we do need a positive result. Quote

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted February 5 Site Supporter Posted February 5 I'm curious as to what lineup and formation we see. After a week or so with them, what will his observations have led to? Quote
Whitesince63 Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I don’t think we’ll see much change personally. With the players we have we don’t really have the option of doing much different and SS said himself that his system wouldn’t be much different to that of IE. Hopefully we just cut out the passing around the back and move it forward quicker. I actually thought we were pretty good last week and if AC had had his shooting boots on it would have been very different. No Thommo this week so probably a choice between Matete and Lolos and I’d expect it to be Matete to start. With George the only one missing and not injured it’s going to mean a couple missing out on even the bench again, which could be quite telling? Quote

He said he wouldn't rip up the script for the Reading game - it was too early for change - but does that imply he intends to change things now considering the result and having had the time? Doubt there will be any massive changes to start off with but you never know.... He'll be as desperate as us to get a result so hopefully he won't totally dismantle the recently tight defence completely in an attempt to emulate Evatt's attacking style which he says he is an admirer of. Should be interesting. Quote

Haven't done the numbers since Arfield and Williams left the building, but the squad size will always be bigger than the X1 + bench so it's inevitable some don't make it and that always has been the case. It would be difficult to read much into omissions until a few games in until we work out if omissions mean a preferred starting X1 or rotation or horses for courses. Quote
VividDreamer Posted February 5 Posted February 5 The Schumacher revolution begins. Fully expecting our best performance of the season. Quote

I think you might be missing my point lusty. Of course the 18 starters and bench will always be below the 22 squad number but of course it doesn’t include keepers or U21’s. If we include Baxter and Murphy alone in the match day squad it still leaves 6 others who might have expected to play some part. If we hadn’t moved out Williams and Arfield it would have been even worse. I suspect this may have been one reason why SS didn’t push for signings because his jobs going to be difficult enough. I know you have to cater for injuries, suspensions and loss of form but when everybody’s fit it can become a bit of a concern keeping everybody happy. Quote
