Once the ref has given the goal unless Lino has definite view that it was not a goal no way was it getting over turned. I was nearer than that shit liner and i didnt see a handball (live) What i still cant work out is what they spent 2 minutes discussing That surely suggests some serious doubt Quote

Anyone see what caused Forrester’s facial injury? Towards the end I got the impression that Sweeney was just running around head butting everyone. They got that chance where the lad headed it over whilst Forrester was off changing his shirt and the cross went exactly where he would have been. Agreed on Sweeney, what a thug, who went unpunished for all his cheating and aggression. And they nearly profited twice from it - taking out our main centre back (in terms of heading) while they nearly scored, and obviously the handball goal. Obviously in an ideal world we'd all loved VAR to have disallowed the goal - but its the price we pay for that that makes me just accept the decision. The price would be regular 5 minute delays when we score goals, removing those "limbs" moments - eg McAtee's recent goals at home, those 96th minute winners v Crawley, Peterboro, Blackpool, Exeter - every one of them would have been met with silence while we waited for someone down south to let us know if we can celebrate. 1 goal at Burton isn't going to change my mind on wanting that element of match going to remain intact. I don’t particularly like VAR as it’s too long winded & disruptive but more often than not they end up getting to the correct decision! I'll agree to disagree, I'm adamant about the fact that I'll take the rough with the smooth and not have VAR. When I was in my 20s every season was like my life depended on it, now I realise its just another year, and whatever happens we're back in August looking forward to a decent season (either top end of L1 or bottom half of championship). Either way I'll enjoy it, I just don't want our games, and football generally, to be spoiled by the unnecessary (IMO) intervention of VAR for marginal decisions. Quote

superjohnmcginlay Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Thought JDB looked a bit emotional when he came over, half time was quite entertaining watching folk get the heads around the rules. The rules were; you could go through the gates to smoke but couldn’t take your pint out the gates. You couldn’t smoke inside the gates (even though it was outside) but you could have your pint. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Reckon we all feel the same about var. In this instance, it's quite clear the bloke uses his arm and surely it wouldn't have taken long to assess it? That's the theory of it though.. Quote

Dr. Feelgood Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 A mate I saw today said he'd checked up on the league today before we met up. He's a Preston fan and not been taking much notice outside the Championship &, we've all been guilty of this, he had no idea of our recent results. He knew we'd changed managers but little more. He was very surprised/impressed. He'd not really been in touch with the Evatt drama's & was one who'd seen our league position & thought we were doing OK. A good discussion was had. I don't think I mentioned Preston once. Quote

The bald liner flagged waving the flag above his head and (presumably) pressing his buzzer and also (presumably) talking on his intercom. He ha a fairly clear view behind the goal line so (imo) flagged to say the ball had crossed the line (which it had). In effect, he gave the goal based on the position of the ball, not how it got there. Quote
