Just my opinion, but I haven't seen anyone better than Toal.  He tackles, heads, can carry the ball and beat a man, is the best passer aside from Santos, is the only one that ever looks like scoring and is a leader.

Not saying the others don't have their own qualities but on Forino, we haven't seen enough of him to suggest he's great on the ball or has the pace of Toal for eg.  I thought he battled well v Brum and he's obviously a great addition aerially but I think his performance may have been a touch exaggerated, Brum didn't put us any pressure in the last hour, in comparison Santos has been a one man defence for 45 minutes at a time in some games when we've been under the cosh, we were never under the cosh on Tuesday.

Can’t argue with any of that and again it just indicates what a terrific choice of centre backs we now have. If it’s difficult for us to choose imagine how tricky it is for Schu when they’re all fit? 😁

I would still say we lack another player to play wide as an attacking wide player. Tutu and cmg are our best options IMO. After that your looking at players being there who aren't in their best positions but can play there if need be. We need a proper winger who's best position is a winger.

Thought our sqaud wasn't fit for purpose, all our players are shite, it's totally imbalance, Evatt and Markham left us in a right mess and we need a complete overhaul in the summer?

Seems like there’s some confusion and disagreement as to where Tutu played on Tuesday.

In my eyes he was LWB all game. Cogley was on the other side and we played 3 CBs.

CMG had a bit of a free role behind Mcatee and Collins, albeit his impact was mostly on the right.

Did other folk see it differently?

Thought CMG was to the right of McAtee and Collins to the left. But definitely Tutu and JDC as wingbacks

If SS wants to play with a back four, we’ve only one LB and that’s Murphy.

He’s shown that he’s not good enough yet, even if he might be in future.

And you can fuck off saying that Johnston could play there. He’s a cb/lcb and this isn’t the time to be experimenting with him, especially as he’s been playing fantastic since Evatt’s left.

Its a great debate on here, that no one knows actually what fuckin formation we are playing! Well done SS!

dunno how they line up i know some folk watched some Wales games and said he was oustanding in whatever role he was being asked to play

I watched him play 90 & 85 mins inside 4 days for Wales last November (?) and he was excellent as 1 of a 2 in a 4-2-3-1 formation.

MoM in the first game and very close to getting it in the second.

That's exactly what it was.

Quite amusing to think that when we're winning

Whilst under IE and doing shit no one knew what formation we were playing and it was all bingo machine etc

absolutely sums it up for me. It's a myth that Sheehan offers nothing defensively.

Wrexham he was definitely off his game from the start. It wasn't that the game passed him by (though it did to an extent), he just had an off-day.

Other than that, he's been exceptional recently.

Yet no one has said he offers nothing defensively. As a third division professional footballer he ought to have some capability in that regard.

It is simply the case that out of the midfield that we have, he is one of the weaker ones defensively.

He always has been. If he had more physical strength and that capability as well, he wouldn't be playing division 3 football, but much higher.

The players couldn’t even understand what formation they should have been playing.

For what it's worth, SS said he went with Tomo rather than Sheehan because Tomo's pressing ability and running power

I think you're absolutely right.

So many (all) of our players have been criticised throughout the season, and had dropped off from last year's levels, that there couldn't have been a coincidence.

Clearly a factor in it, and we know what that was.

Iirc, since his return, Morley has been an ever present in league games. Under both managers.

No doubt someone will know for sure.

That must say something about him, and how well he's doing.

I wonder if he may get a rest at some point?

Thomason pretty much said that in one post-game interview.

It's a "complicated" system

He was left out at Reading.

We lost.

Wait until we lose again

Whichever league we're in next year, I reckon the squad will see one or two surprising outs.

At least if he has them all contributing and doing well now, any that do go will have a better transfer value.

Pretty much what I said 11hrs ago…

And they aren't exactly backup, both beyond poor, imo

I've noticed quite a few times he's charged deep into our own half to win back possession when there's a loose ball

I'm not sure he was doing that before he went on loan

Five months in a different training regime and the confidence built from playing regularly in a winning team have added a real edge to him. His view of the game and ability to sense both dangers and opportunities have always been good

I'd say it's still imbalanced. We're missing a fast striker, a big unit striker who can hold up the ball, a defensive midfielder who can enforce games, and a decent out and out left back. Considering our squad is huge for this level it's still overstocked in certain areas and poor in others.

The fact SS is getting what we have to play so well is very impressive. Imagine what he'll do when we've balanced out the squad.
