It was also said IE left us with an imbalanced squad but I'm not seeing it

The only issue we have is lack of back up up front since Vic and Etete got injured

I'd say it's still imbalanced. We're missing a fast striker, a big unit striker who can hold up the ball, a defensive midfielder who can enforce games, and a decent out and out left back. Considering our squad is huge for this level it's still overstocked in certain areas and poor in others.

The fact SS is getting what we have to play so well is very impressive. Imagine what he'll do when we've balanced out the squad.

Seems like there’s some confusion and disagreement as to where Tutu played on Tuesday.

In my eyes he was LWB all game. Cogley was on the other side and we played 3 CBs.

CMG had a bit of a free role behind Mcatee and Collins, albeit his impact was mostly on the right.

Did other folk see it differently?

Correct. It was a 523, but it morphed very easily to a 442 at times when we had possession with Tutu advancing on the left and CMG on the right.

I thought the same re Tutu and Cogley, but that in practise Cogley did a lot of defensive stuff and Tutu spent most of the game in their half.  That was just my impression, Tutu basically played as a winger with Johnston doing most of the "left back" duties.

I noticed CMG more than I might have because I'd expected him to play a free role that you mention, but I thought he played very much as an orthodox right winger.  He hardly ventured in field, he was hugging the right touch line every time I noticed him (to great effect).  It was like we were playing orthodox wingers and only 3 at the back.  It was made possible for the last hour because most of the game was played in the Brum half, not something I was expecting after 30 minutes.

Iirc, since his return, Morley has been an ever present in league games. Under both managers.

No doubt someone will know for sure.

That must say something about him, and how well he's doing.

I wonder if he may get a rest at some point?

They are all getting a 2 week rest after Stockport!

But then a ridiculous 11 league games in 5 weeks, surely no player will start all 11.

(I don't hugely care who plays in defence or midfield within reason, but up front we can't keep flogging the same 2 for a game every 3 days, and then expect them to be fit for the play offs).

He was left out at Reading.

We lost.

McAtee didn't start either, remember those days? 😀

To be fair we only lost because of the Cardiff chap (and Collins off day).

Sheehan isn't a patch on our other midfielders?

Not having that mate jesus.

He's easily the most technically gifted.

It's not all about blood and thunder.

Can’t you manage to read a whole sentence or did you run out of brain cells half way through? :)

Sheehan was clearly a marked man in their prep. They got 2 players super tight on him whenever he received the ball and always tried to force us down the sides and away from Sheehan.

Up to others to step up and help find a solution when that happens, but fair fucks to Wrexham they managed to negate him in a double press without losing their shape

As per my original post that with Evatt ball dependency on Sheehan he became targeted as we had few other options, but under Schuey we do ergo Sheehan less pivotal to the team.

Playing under Evatt it became increasingly easy to work out how to stop us - sit on Sheehan to push him deeper and force the wide men to pass backwards, let Santos etc have the ball in his own half and get men behind the ball. Sheehan dropping back to collect it takes another player out of the attack so we were too easy to defend against. Once we’d been worked out we became easy to defend against.

With Schuey consolidating the defence, we give up possession to create space to attack quickly on turnover.

Five months in a different training regime and the confidence built from playing regularly in a winning team have added a real edge to him. His view of the game and ability to sense both dangers and opportunities have always been good

Chuck in a pile of extra confidence and belief and you get totally new player. The weakness of the wing back was shown up at Shrewsbury as Murphy was getting over run. SS has a word with Morley and it was blocked off. Noticed in games since how well Morley is now tracking players back.

No idea what went on as his game went to pieces and it ain’t all Evatts fault.

Think Billy won by committing his men in a really high aggressive press and not letting Harold take his time.

Billy 'the Bastard'* was the midfield hard man. I wonder who played the False 9.

*official nickname. Fact.

No problem with the clubs getting a slap on the wrists, but the wording in these rules are like a a teacher talking to a class of 5 year olds.

Failed to ensure... blah, blah, blah.

It's a physical game played by athletic young men, full of aggression and adrenaline.

"Improper conduct" will do just fine.

How, in the 95th minute of a game that the referee had failed to control, could the club ensure that its players behaved properly in the heat of the moment?
