Would/should Santos and Forino make a partnership at the back? Maybe in a four but it raises a lot of questions for me.

  • Cogley has been our most improved and best player since Evatt left.

  • We lost that game because we don't have a number 9 at the football club. No other reason.

Feeling positive despite the result and especially after listening to Schuey afterwards, I have no doubt that he's the man to take us forward.  I don't want to bring up the past and look forward,

I have a feeling Schumacher does not fully trust Thomason in the centre of midfield. Not a clue on tonights line up be these lot will be direct... Can see hopefully a change in formation to a back 4 with Dempsey starting in midfield instead of Thomason who if he went to left back it would not surprise me.

Great cross by geth Saturday but for me is now a bit part player

I think Thomason will go to left back. Maybe not due to lack of trust (might be that) but because we’re now short on options and I think he’s done well there.

Problem is, we don’t really have the defenders to play 5 at the back - not enough centre backs and even using GT as a centre back doesn’t work as you’d want both him and Johnston left of the back 3, so it’s pointing to a back 4 of JDC, Forino, Johnston, GT.

That’s all well and good, and I like it as a back 4, but it usually means that you’d go 1 up top, in a 4231. That’s a disaster because McAtee cannot play up top on his own.

Alternative is that you go for an out and out 442 - SS has done this but it’s rarely seen nowadays.

My guess is that it will be those 4 at the back and then Sheehan, Morley, Tutu, McAtee, Collins and 1 other (preferably Dempsey if fit, likely CMG if not) but in what formation I’ve no idea - and highly likely that it will be ‘fluid’ whatever it is.

No idea if it would work or not. One thing is for sure, it’d be the biggest centre back pairing we’ve had since probably the days of Wheater and Beevers.

Baxter

Forino Santos Johnston

Cogley Morley Sheehan Tutu

Dempsey Thomason

Collins

Think that line up would murder any team

           Baxter

      Jones   Forino Johnston

Cogley.                                      Tutu

         Dempsey Sheehan Morley

              Collins Mcatee

Santos was described as a club 'great' on here recently. How great can you be if you can only play in one specific position in one specific formation with specific types of players either side?

If he's fit and his head is right, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to work out how to play next to Forino.

But I'd guess it'll be GT doing his John Stones impression.

Ross Joyce ref tonight god help us!

I have yet to see a decent ref in Div 1.

Could they not put Uriah Rennie In a motorised wheelchair for the game?

Have you ever seen him play in a different formation under a different manager? I suspect like the rest of us the answer is no. I doubt SS would pick him based on historical performances only what he’s seen in training. Without doubt Santos has the best passing range of our defenders why wouldn’t we want to utilise that?

Santos must have cost us a dozen goals last season.

Fantasic centre back 2 years ago, but those days are long gone - It's a no from me.

Get rid.

That would do me and should be enough to beat Rotherham

At least 18 inches of pure thick cock there between them.

Be like a butchers shop window in Bury that changing room.

About the best we can put out at the minute. It ought to be good enough. I like the three of Dempsey Sheehan and Morley.

I would add Thomason and drop McAtee - we need to boss midfield against this lot

3-1

Collins, Morley, Dempsey.

20,108.

Come On You Whites!!!

Yep, Jones in for Forrester is the least disruption to the defence.

4 Reds in the last 5 games he's reffed us, two for Santos (Morecambe & Port Vale). Jones (Peterboro) & the Lincoln Chap the others.

You can’t really blame Santos for Evatt being stubborn not changing formation.

It's the issue with our squad full stop, too many brought in to do specific things, in a specific way, with specific other players around them to help them deliver.

Plays into the other thread that picked up on Neville's over coaching comments after the MCR derby.

Realistically how can Rico be fully fit to play? He certainly couldn’t do the whole game so do you risk him to start or go with Jones and see how it goes and personally I’d start Gethin with Rico on the bench at best for me until he’s had a few run outs.
