boltonboris Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I’d like to think our players will react positively and look to right Saturdays wrongs, but I think it’s more likely we’ll see a sullen, sulky bunch who haven’t reacted well to criticism. Nonetheless, a draw. Quote
gonzo Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Play 4 at the back and get that midfield up the bloody field. Just fucking go for it. Got nothing to lose. Quote
L/H White Posted April 14 Posted April 14 same prediction as weekend, defeat to mentally weak and the injuries obviously won't help matters Quote

Jol_BWFC Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I think this is probably the first genuine “must win” game of the season. Remarkably, we’re still in the play off hunt even after the Barnsley defeat. However, if we don’t win this, it will be season over. Quote
L/H White Posted April 14 Posted April 14 wycombe 2nd highest scorers in the league only these teams have conceded more than us, 4 of which are in the bottom 4, Barnsley, Peterborough, Bristol, Crawley, Cambridge & Shrewsbury Quote
Lostock Whites Posted April 14 Posted April 14 (edited) As shit as the mood is right now and how woeful this season has been, this could very easily in typical Wanderers fashion be a game we unexpectedly win to give us faint hope. I said before that I think it will go to the last day and I'll stick with that. We annihilated Birmingham at home and Wycombe have been pretty average since Matt Bloomfield left, only up there really because of the unreal 1st half of the season they had. I personally like others am just a bit worn out, it's been a LONG horrible season with a very few bits of joy in between and can't wait for it to just finish. The beauty of football is the unpredictability, not knowing what might happen. But with us recently this has just been a real pain. Take our recent results for example: Play averagely against Stockport, lose. Play well against Blackpool, lose. Play poorly against Wigan & Bristol Rovers, win. Play very well against Rotherham, lose. Play terribly against Barnsley, lose. It's just painful at this point. I have zero clue about what to expect now, all I can say is we are due a good performance and a good result to match it. Edited April 14 by Lostock Whites Quote

onefinfrandsen Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Try and stay in the hunt until the last game and anything can happen if we do, no mugs these and with our depleted squad can only see a draw at best. Quote
BeeversLeftPeg Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Effectively 4 points the gap with GD to Reading and Leyton Orient right back in the mix too. I think with 4 left it might just be a bit too much given the injuries and our recent form. Although equally, it would be the most Wanderers thing ever to pick up 6 points this weekend and be right back in it with a couple of games left. 😂 Quote

Just keep on dreaming because if a poor Barnsley team can put four past us this lot will hammer us. Realistically our seasons over but Wycombe’s is still very much alive and I expect them to be well up for it. With the recent injuries I just can’t see any way we trouble them on Friday so I’m afraid I have to be in the pessimistic camp and can’t see us getting anything from this except final confirmation that we’re in L1 next season which in a way may be a benefit from a recruitment perspective? noxid Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Dempsey and Lolos got to be shoe-ins as we need some bite in midfield. Won't miss Tutu (too lightweight) but Morley a big loss. Prefer Southwood back in goal. Anyone know if Toal is expected back soon or out for the season along with half the rest of the squad? Quote
gonzo Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Only thing I'm cringing on to is that even as bad as it was on sat we created 4-5 proper chances and missed 3 clear sitters. Add that to the 347 chances we had last Tuesday and you've just got to hope summets got to click somewhere. It's more worrying when you're not creating anything. Quote
waffer cup 07 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 One big problem is were so inconsistent. We could beat Wycombe comfortably then not turn up for the next game. When was the last time we won four on the trot. Quote

desperado Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I’m looking for a bit or Rory inspiration after watching that last night. Often written off for being a bottler, mentally fragile, failing at the final hurdle - I love it when a sportsman (team) proves the doubters wrong. Although I’m admittedly very much in the “hopefully fanciful” category, in expecting us to turn this around now. Shame as I was very much looking forward to Friday being a real Easter holiday spectacle, part of our good run-in, taking on and beating a promotion rival, Morley showing Wycombe what they were missing… Time for Dempsey to come to the party now… Quote
ianofcleveleys Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Wycombe's goals have dried up a bit lately but they're still getting points by giving even fewer goals away (wouldn't that be nice?). A 0-1 after 90 odd minutes of drudgery is what I'm anticipating, though with us who knows? Quote
Tombwfc Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Will Wycombe bring many? I have no idea how well supported they are away. Feel like any time a team turns up with a big following needing a result they generally get it from us. Quote
