what is having your pants down? You can do stuff yourself but imo it’s better / less hassle to have professionals do it. I e have had to do it with my aunties and mother.

Aye we had to do it for my Mums.

That's what solicitors are for tbf. Is what it is and it'll just come off the estate.

Condolences mate :(

Sorry to hear that D. The shittest of days when your mum goes it really is.

if there’s enough in the estate, it’s worth letting the solicitors sort it, if there’s hardly any money there, do it yourself. It’s usually a case of whether you have the time as there’ll be a lot of other stuff going on for you now.

Sorry to hear pal, I agree with what Spider said, it all depends on the value of the estate, did your mum leave a will?

I know what you mean about having your pants down, my dad's bill was frightening.

Sorry to hear this little

My dad died last September and my mum decided she wanted to do it, was familiar with it all as she used to work in a solicitors, all be it about 50 years ago

It took her a while but she managed it and was insistent on doing it, as the last thing she could do for him, all got sorted last week

Couldn't be arsed with it, personally

Without meaning to sound brutal, you’d be best paying the £2k and not worrying you’ve fucked anything up mate.

None of my business but that’s a decent amount you’ve been left pal, make it easy on yourself.

If your car breaks down then you can fix it yourself. But if you are not comfortable doing that then you can take it to someone who knows what they are doing and they will (hopefully) do it properly. Everything, and I mean everything, a solicitor does can be done by you and me. But if you don't want the agro then you pay for their knowledge and their navigation of the system.

When I die, I either want to be 104 years old and flying my private jet into a volcano

Or with my family by my side.

Being there at the end is perfect. Cherish that mate.

I'll tell you one solicitor NOT to use, we're still going through it with my brother,

They've done nothing extra on what I did but it's just piece of mind that you're not having to find everything yourself.

Absolutely loved meeting your mum last year, Lyra was only saying the other day how lovely she was, and hugely proud of her "picture". Sorry for your loss.
