The pubs we have lost

So , a new football season almost upon us , fixture lists out .

Do any not rights out there think of the pubs that were an integral part of Saturday football at Burnden park?

There are very few left at all , and the axe has already fallen around our "New" home

Greenwood , Bonnie Lasses, Barnstormers unable to trade even with a football ground nearby.

Thinking about the Tanners , Cattle Market , Rose Hill Tavern, Farmers in Darcy Lever.Trotters on Manchester road.

And of course our dear King William IV , the Holy Grail of lunacy on big match days

Mad memories and even photos eagerly accepted

I never, ever have a drink at home. I don’t drink cans or bottles so it’s the pub for me too.  It’s the social side I like. I bowl three nights a week so I get to socialise anywhere from Edgerton

Yeah, you love that Six Nations & F1 shite

Cricket is shite, but if it was all highlights , hit out or get out, it would be less shite.

How can any game be 5 days long? And still be a draw?

Love F1 but 90s touring cars racing was the best motor racing and was the pinnacle for me. Went all over the UK watching it

Racing cars, and skiing, and bobsleigh-ing?

Lets be honest, you only watch it hoping for a crash.

Blew the mind of the tour guide at Turner Field in Atlanta when explaining that a test series can be 5 games at five days each and still could be a draw. His 'murican brain couldn't cope. 😆

We went to Oulton Park ages ago with my mum and dad watching motorbikes. Three of us under a blanket and some coats. I always remember a massive ( to kids) fallen tree.

Lived in Warrington for a while so Oulton Park was fairly local and was there a lot. Knicker Brook was my spot. John Cleland and David Leslie were who I followed. But watching a Volvo estate car blasting round was summat else :D

Why run 26 miles, when you can run 100m. 😀

My sister runs a pub, big old one in centre of Little Lever,

No idea how it does but it's always busy.

They've just hade a huge refurbishment.

😊 That’s a good point. Only 2 days to go.🏏

Sorry to hear about your loss mate. I love Border Collies and I lost one too soon as well.

Cheers mate.

Others at our feet as I type.

Incredibly mixed emotions.

The sun has come out this afternoon, unexpectedly so, and we went to a couple of gardens.

First one was really special, and the owner shared some valuable information that may help my lad, with his undoubted knowledge in the field of plants and growing.

Anyway, returning to the subject, I reckon we should all pile into a boozer whilst up here. Have something to eat, help the pub economy, and celebrate the life of the hound.
