Should take the full 5k I’d imagine, sun out, Yorkshire away day, first away of the season, optimism high

I’ll be at a mate’s wedding the inconsiderate bastard.

  • The title was changed to Barnsley (A)

We never take as many to Barnsley as we do to other games for some reason.

Stockport is first away, win that and the home game in between will boost numbers, lose them both maybe not as popular.

I’d forgotten about Stockport (can’t go to that either) but given we got about 48 tickets for it, I’d imagine Barnsley will be the first away possible for most.

When we win the first 2 and sit top of the league then we’ll be asking for more from Barnsley!

331 safe standing seats

And another 4000 non safe ones.

Might get some right near the front so I can sit if needed. For the kids obviously...

I'm struggling to think of anywhere bar Wigan that we've taken more in recent years (when they've not cut our allocation).

Especially given that we seem to play them every few months, so no novelty factor.

Even Port Vale which is closer (and relative novelty) didn't sell out on a Saturday a couple of years ago.

Excluding the play off games we have played them backend a few times and whilst we have taken good numbers it has surprised me we have not sold out.

It is probably more of a reflection of how many we take to other away games rather than anything else.

It's a bit of a pain on the train and not a big glamour club or local rival, so the 3k we've taken the last few years has been pretty decent. Can see this one being higher though is we get a few good results before it

I think selling out 5k fairly regularly for a non local derby is asking a lot.  We aren't THAT big!  We don't traditionally sell out at Sheff Wed either even though its always a good following.

For perspective, we used to have to put free coaches on to get more than about 1k to an away game that wasn't local.  We thought we'd taken massive followings to WBA and Hull when it was about 2k with free coaches.

I think our potential away followings are a bit exaggerated by the fact that the tinpot away ends of 1k or less sell out so quickly but we rarely get to test how many we can take unfortunately.

I remember at Birmingham in the Prem  04/05 when it was a push if we had 500 there

Only time I can remember us selling out at Sheffield Wednesday was when they bummed us 5-0 in the prem

Originally had seats behind pillars so moved then the people whose seats we were in arrived so had to move back

Nowhere else to go until thd second half and you could sit where you wanted

We sold out Wednesday a 2/3 seasons ago for the Saturday match when we lost 1-0.

A much reduced capacity though in leppings lane of around 3k this last few seasons. Similar to what we take to Barnsley when 5k is on offer

September 2007 I was at Brum, it was £10 a ticket so everyone thought we'd take a decent following.  It was 1k max!

Honestly Braaten was one of the better players, which didn't say much for Diouf, Anelka, Nolan, Speed etc on the day.

Could have had our seats, we fucked off at half time!
