Krimzon Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I know that for us its been a bit of a bone of contention about terrace chants , but Im thinking more of away fans. None of this Ferry type shit , sign on wank , proper songs . The bolton fusiliers always gave me goose bumps at full flow. Im sure that for half a season the " ooh aah , ooh aah , proud to be a Wanderer " was a top chant and intimidating as fuck (at least I thought it was when I was down south). I loved the Burnden Bounce to Stop the cavalry when the whole away end of Leeds fans joined in and it was a great game even tho we lost . And the "youre not boinging anymore" is still one of my best away days . (the afters were stuff of legends as well ) . Stoke City joining in with "The Whites are Going Up" and the Burnden side singing Delilah , is something Id never thought Id see , and will never happen again in my lifetime. I thought Blue Moon was pretty good , the Poznan thing was cringe in the extreme tho . Only other ones that got the short hairs standing up was West Brom - The lord is my shepherd (proper old school) and The taffys singing Men of Harlach (sp) What have i missed ? Quote

bolty58 Posted October 22 Posted October 22 Not like me but Celtic fans on learning of Andy Gorams schizophrenia was very witty. "There's only two Andy Gorams, two Andy............." Quote
RONNIE PHILLIPS Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I thought ' No woman no Kai' was quite clever when Coleen kicked Rooney out. Quote
FrancisFogarty Posted October 22 Posted October 22 We’ve got Frankfurt match on. I’m quite enjoying their rendition of “wah wa wah wa wah, wah wa wah wa wah.” To the tune of “Wah wa” or something. Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted October 22 Posted October 22 I always enjoyed the ‘chickens in our backyard’ song. Quote

"There's only two Andy Gorams, two Andy............." I loved one reportedly sung at MK Dons franchise fans by some home fans sympathetic to the original Wimbledon, who were knocking around some minor southern league when starting again from scratch. They were playing away in Somerset that day and the chant from the anti MK home fans... "You're supposed to be at Frome". Genius. Edited October 22 by SatanGreavsie Quote
desperado Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Great recollections of some old classics, great memories. We’d be wrong to dismiss some of our more recent efforts though. Don’t know if it’s an age thing, but for decades our originality and “terrace” renditions have been bland and repetitive. I Don’t know if it’s because I’m in the presence of younger adults now who are at the heart of our terrace songs, but we’ve had some crackers recently. Stone Roses one ACD’s Spirit in the sky Gales sway song I wish Cissoko was a better player - his wham one is funny Quote

On loan from Brighton FC And he goes by the name of Duberry Almost a football clichés highlighted purely factual song there, with no bigging him up. Just needs something like "he plays football in navy and white" in that second line Quote

Just needs something like "he plays football in navy and white" in that second line Or "he's got a healthy respect for the team in blue and white" to continue the factual theme. A bit like the one that starts "we hate Nottingham Forest", which unless you support Derby or maybe Notts County, is never going to be anything other than poetic license. Quote

I like that chant but also hate the fact we bring them bastards into it. Feeds their thinking we rate them. Quote
