Huddersfield Town (H) - FA Cup 1st Round

A chance for SS to give a run out to some of the fringe players or does he keep a winning team?

Take a bow Josh Sheehan.  Absolute master class of how to play central midfield - winning loads of possession with good interceptions and tackling, which is his style, but his in-possession stuff was

                        Miller

Christie.     Forino.  Forrester    Taylor

               Morley    Dempsey

                       Randall

Warren                                   Cissoko

                        Dalby

I Would go with That

Be good to see Dempsey back in the team.

Agree with the team above tbh, can’t risk knocks to ACD, Sheehan, Forss or Burstow before another top of the table clash at Stevenage. Never thought I’d type that.

Not a chance.

Simply can't see him making that number of changes.

I don't think Forrester will be seen as ready yet neither.

Maybe, maybe not.

It’s not inconceivable.

Most of those players have been first team picks this season. We are not a lower league slide who are having to throw in kids, inexperienced players or players who’ve no chance of first team football.

As I said, it could also be a blend.

I really don’t mind which way he goes. All justifiable and possible in my mind.

If Dempsey doesn't get a run out next week then I think it's game over for him

It will be a blend, for sure.

I simply can't see so many non-regulars starting.

It's a game we can win, perhaps should win, and a step nearer to a possible big pay day etc.

We've done bugger all in major cups for a while, and a little run, some media exaltation and positive coverage won't go amiss.

Might be the difference between getting that top signing come the window and not doing.

Agree on Forrester (maybe on the bench). The player to come in for Johnston is Inwood.

I do think they’ll be quite a few changes. Dalby starting is an obvious one, along with Miller, Christie, Taylor, Morley and Dalby.

Don’t think he’ll make too many changes - perhaps 4-5 tops.  He’ll want win….plus need to keep form/momentum - not great if most players don’t have a game for 2 weeks.

Think he’ll go with most of that but, Sheehan or Simons along side Morley, and maybe Tutu or Forss instead of Warren. Think he’ll give Forino and Toal a game together aswell. Dempsey to get some minutes off the bench if not injured again.

Can the loan lads play?

Let's get ACD cup tied asap 😬

Just bring him on in the 93rd minute for him to score the winner

Is it a replay or decided on the day?

Will there be extra time and penalties?

From the first round onwards in the competition, matches will be decided in extra time if the game is drawn after 90 minutes.
If the match remains level after 120 minutes, the cup tie will then be decided by a penalty shoot-out.

Any of the first team carrying a knock will not be risked be interesting to see who plays.

will this be streamed anywhere ? Dont think the club can do it . Maybe need @gonzos dodgy siberian channel connections.

Don’t the club film every match for wanderers TV though even if it’s not streamed so it can be watched later?

Only 5 blocks of the east lower open at the moment so not likely to be a big attendance. Anyone know how many Huddersfield have sold?

Think I’m going to go to this. Not a lot of takers in our group. But Saturday 3pm on the back of a good run seeing what the squad has to offer is good enough reason.

Doubt there will be a stream too

I’m still unsure which way he’ll go in terms of the side he’ll pick. Justification to go both ways.

I still think the majority of those I put in my side will play. The big question marks will be on Forrester (fitness) and Warren (too far down the pecking order)

As long as all the others are fit (including hopefully Dempsey) I’m finding it hard to omit any of the others - a perfect opportunity for them to get game time.

I bet that's an understatement!

There are definitely fans that are happy to go it alone when nobody else can be arsed, and loads that wouldn't dream of it, if mates aren't going, they just wouldn't bother.  That in itself keeps the crowd down, because some of the stay at homes would probably be happy to go if a mate was going.  I've been to loads of evening or cup games on my own, I wouldn't fancy it every game but makes a bit of a change every now & again, along with sitting in a different seat/with different fans to league games.

And no issues getting away after the game for this one 😀

League is our stated priority so it will be interesting to see how SS goes in this, especially after modifying our approach for the Cardiff game. Not sure if he asked the lads to play that  more defensive way specifically because it was Cardiff - although I reckon Sheehans improved performance had something to do with the Welsh thing - or whether he is modifying the teams approach in general  to make us more solid but if it is the latter, it may affect what he tries in the cup. Time will tell.
