Deserves its own thread.

Fuck all that grass off and put more parking on there.

Fuck that central reservation off and let the arena and Scott's traffic turn right.

Get an exit at the back of the hotel carpark on to De Havilland way.

Bosh.

Definitely needs a right turn as a junction from anyone heading out of Bolton arena/the station and nearby. Seems nuts having all that going into a one way into a retail car park.

The other exit from the hotel car park would work well too but just need some redesign of the car park.

But anything will still be hard work whatever as there is so little walk up/public transport traffic from building an out of town stadium. Imagine what it could have been of we'd built in the old bus station behind le mans crescent... Would be so easy to get away as the general infrastructure of the town has already been built over 500 years

There used to be another exit from the hotel car park in the top corner that cut out the roundabout and although it’s still there it now blocked off.

If you let Scott’s traffic turn right you are just moving a bottle neck, anyone coming off the main car park would be stuck for longer, including the buses.  We were late v Wigan and parked in a different spot on main car park , took over an hour to get away. Saturday was 10 minutes.

Given the club have abdicated all responsibility for the car parks can not see them spending money moving stuff around. Last home game V Peterboro one of the barriers coming off the main car park was down so halving the number of exit roads

The only realistic solution is to put on more and affordable buses that are given priority leaving. For those of us living outside Bolton won’t help but getting more people to use buses and reducing cars would make a difference but this would cost £££s.

Was designed with the purpose of shipping fans in by public transport. This was when Bolton was a decent place to live and the fan base was local. Trains have been a joke since day one, buses have been cutdown and a good percentage of fans now travel to watch Bolton. Not a chance in hell the club would ever consider shelling out to aid this and  the way this country is being run we wont be getting a exit road or extra capacity on the trains anytime soon. I dont think the club really care as long as we get 20k plus every week. It wont get any better any time soon

Used the bus after the game on saturday for the first time in ages.   Was actually a quick getaway which was nice

We park near the buses and it was the smoothest it has been all season. In the old days they blocked the other roads so the buses left quickly so at least some incentive to use them .

I know it’s possibly still a bit of a trek from your seat @gonzo, but have you had a look at getting a parking pass on the disabled car park immediately behind the North Stand? Might even be able to use that to get a head start in the traffic and pick your dad up on the banana road although I’m not sure how frowned upon that is these days.

I spend every home game praying it doesn’t piss down but have spent the last couple of seasons parking near the Royal Oak on the A6 and it’s been a game changer in terms of getting home at the same time every week. The retail park was getting worse with every match, although we do still tend to park on there for the midweek games.

The layout and traffic lights timings on Burnden Way is all designed to give priority to those who park on the club car parks priority on a match day. No one will fund any works to change that.

We should give teams the full away end to make up the shortfall :)

Build the link road that was never finished between CNR and the road the goes behind Asda

They’re in the process of building a new link road at the far end of the retail park, aren’t they? Think the aim is to take some pressure off the roads in to Horwich

One traffic grumble I’ve definitely got is that there should be a pedestrian crossing across the northbound motorway junction. Absolute miracle nobody has been killed trying to cross there after a game.

Are they? Is that the little spur off the roundabout near Hitachi, that takes you to a public footpath?

Sounds interesting, but not sure if there's room there, as is... I do wonder if there's anything planned connecting to the new Loco Works estate?

Short term "fix" could be opening the fire engine bollards for match day exit only on Napier Drive, but then... I suppose that just moves the bottleneck onto Chorley New.

They were close to doing that 11 years ago when I left the council.

From the roundabout by the post office depot through to Crown Lane passing the bottom of the loco works development

dunno but it's been in the pipeline since they demolished the old mill and built houses there, which was over 20 years ago

Wasn't there supposed to be one from the roundabout by the police station to somewhere?

That was meant to be where the slip roads onto the M61 were.

Having read the article the paperwork was secured the developer took too long to build the road and paperwork expired. No fucker from the council or developer thought to keep the order rolling over once the initial 5yrs was coming to a close.

not sure that approach will alleivate traffic and parking issues to be fair, even with the other implementations you mention
