  • I'm not sure there was an expectancy of Simons as such, it's just that he was so impressive early on. His form fell off a cliff, but that early form showed there is a very good player in there. D

When i was young we used to play Fulham every week,

In the early 80s every other week we would play Oldham Athletic.

I knew it looked wrong

Didn't we play City at home in two consecutive league matches in one of the Prem seasons? So last game of one season and first of next?

Yeah, 2011.
But there was a game away at QPR in between.

I remember that even Gary Cahill scored beginning of season though we were going to have a great one!

I recall, even posting on here, that it was a great result but not a very good performance

I can't remember many good performances that season at all, maybe apart from Stoke at home. The were some generational stinkers in there too. Horrendous season.

Liverpool 3-1?

Liverpool 3-1?

Fair point that actually but they were also far from the glory days that time. Think Dalglish was still managing them at that point?

I'm convinced Eoin Toal has a proper panic disorder condition and probably should be on medication for it if he isn't already.

i remember (possibly falsely) us playing arsenal (maybe?) twice concurrently in the premier league.

think it was due to postponments in the middle . or them struggling to fit the fixtures in coz they went dead far in most of the cups they were in.

i may be imagining this.

turns out i'm not, google robo search sez

17 January 2010: Bolton 0–2 Arsenal (Reebok Stadium)

20 January 2010: Arsenal 4–2 Bolton (Emirates Stadium)

didnt think it was 3 days. it sez it was due to the original emirates game being snowed off. from about 6th january.

they played celtic in a european cup playoff in august. that originally held it up.

i asked for similar. and it sez.

leeds played manutd back to back after the death of the queen had postponed one of the games.

and watford played arsenal one day (april 1) after another (31st march) in 1986. watford won both.

So depending on results our next 5 games could be

Bradford

Luton

Bradford

Bradford

Luton

We could win the first 4 of those then draw or lose and remain in L1.

We could lose the next 3 then win 1, draw 1 and go up with a record of 3 wins out of the last 13 games.

As much as we want to beat Bradford on Saturday it does put these next couple of games in some perspective.

Not sure why but I occasionally watch the video from that and it still never ceases to shock me.

Took about 8 minutes from just a bit of smoke to full on inferno. Madness.

Plus them thick cunts chanting.

Same.

Can't say I feel the same about the chanting though. We've discussed it before, and I'm sure for many it's just an initial, alcohol driven bravado like response to the shock of what's unfolding.

I'm sure many soon sobered up.

Anyway, it's certainly horrific footage.

Looking at the list of names (and ages), a few where there are 2 with the same surname, particularly poignant.

And 3 Ormondroyd's.  I read previously that they were 12 year old twins boys and their father.
