Championship 26-27

Featured Replies

Of the 12 founding members of the Football League 8 will be in the Championship for 2026-27.

Only the original big city clubs of Aston Villa and Everton remain in the Premier League.

No founder members in League One, but Notts County and the reformed Accrington in League Two.

All the Championship clubs were in the Football League in 1926-27, and here are their positions in that season.

Division- position club:

1-4 Bolton Wanderers, 1-5 Burnley, 1-6 West Ham United,, 1-8 Sheffield United, 1-12 Derby County, 1-14 Cardiff City, 1-17Birmingham City, 1-18 Blackburn Rovers, 1-22 West Bromwich Albion, 2-1 Middlesbrough, 2-2 Portsmouth, 2-6 Preston North End, 2-12 Swansea Town (now City), 2-13 Southampton, 2-15 Wolverhampton Wanderers, 3S-1 Bristol City, 3N-1 Stoke City, 3S-3 Millwall, 3N-11 Lincoln City, 3S-13 Charlton Athletic, 3N-13 Wrexham, 3S-14 Queens Park Rangers, 3S-16 Norwich City, 3S-21 Watford.

Congratulations on promotion. Most Wrexham fans were hoping you stuff those Stockport scruffs, and you did. 👏 As a rough guide we spent around £30-35 million last summer and just missed out on th

I'd snatch your hand off for fourth from bottom right now.  Next season is about staying up unless we get some major investment from somewhere over the summer.

Finish 8th next season and you're in the playoffs

International weekends won’t mean match postponements being shoehorned to midweek.

Can make plans safe in the knowledge the weekends are free!

Also got that new 2 weekend break thing starting next season in September/October.

unless they've been getting massive investment in recent years, and hoping we have a good go at strengthening, I reckon we can be as good as half that league

recruitment going to be massive but SS been good at it so far mostly

desperate to sign Kenny and take it from there

I think it’s not unreasonable to say that we need to sign at least 10 players if we expect to finish mid table

And 5 of them need to be Kylian Mbappe

What about finishing 8th?

Cannot. Fucking. Wait.

And we got World Cup too to keep us entertained in between, as well as all the latest on new signings, kits, fixtures etc. What a summer already.

Up the trotters.

We’d need 14 players.

mid table is probably optimistic, playoffs borderline insane, 21st and above the result we all would take right now.

I think just surviving will be the task next season back up there. When you look at that list of teams it’s actually pretty difficult to pick 3 teams you’d expect to be at the bottom but all things being equal you’d have to expect us to probably be favourites for the drop with Lincoln. Who cares though we didn’t take 7 years of purgatory just to fall back there again. The Whites are staying up.

Most W teams in same division? @MalcolmW

I would take just staying in the championship as a massive result.

Don't know, it feels different this time. Last time was a brief respite from a decade of diminishing returns, we spent nothing and stayed up.

I was just too young for the Rioch era but I'm guessing it feels similar to that; certainly I would equate it to when we went up in the Big Sam era.
