Would have preferred to avoid a derby on day one but actually PNE is quite a good one. Dunno about others but I never feel a huge rivalry with them but it is certainly always a very feisty matchday I

  • Nah, this will actually improve the attendance I reckon. Prime Saturday right before the league starts rather than shoe horned into a Tuesday night somewhere with second string squads playing. Good dr

It’s going to feel like the last pre-season friendly devaluing the league cup even more.

Good draw too with an away day in Sheffield. I'll be getting tickets, which I would never usually do for a midweek league cup game.

Same here, midweek wouldn't have bothered...

But a few beers in Sheffield on a Saturday, bring it on....

Another pop at Kelham Island, let's see if I can get out of the Fat Cat and Salt this time 😃

First game I went to at Bury was league cup 1st round on a Saturday, v Halifax.

Same as this year, it was the Saturday before the league started, so it was a competitive game to go to early August that wouldn't otherwise have been possible, miles better than a friendly. It was 1st leg of 2 in them days, at least we're spared that now.

Our first game in the 1st round in that era was 82-83, drew 3-3 at Carlisle and won 2nd leg 4-0, Ian Moores was on fire.

I thought it was at home.

Carry on )
