Hull almost got relegated the season before last, spent nothing as they were under a transfer emargo last season then got promoted

Exactly what i mean, its not about "names", its about building a team that fight and do what Lincoln did. We have one of the biggest budgets and (although getting promoted eventually) stuttered and were hit and miss, Lincoln did something that shows it can be done.

I live us to spunk Millions on players, but we know it wont happen and doesn't always work.

Our target (in my opinion) is 4th from bottom. The build again.

They can't do anything unless the clubs themselves vote in favour of more stringent measures

Let's take the example of Sheff Wednesday

Chansari wants to takeover. EFL say have you got the cash, he says yes. EFL say can it fund the club for x amount of years, he says yes and shows bank statements to prove it

It all goes to shit and Chansari decides he wants no more

Then roll it forward. They’re subject to a winding up order, likely to go out of existence within weeks/months - no sane person is going to come and save them, but a lunatic who says he’s got the money and wants to buy them and therefore save them comes forward. Do you let them go bust or give them the chance to at least survive for a bit longer?

I don’t think you can ever solve it whilst football finance in general is such as basket case.

Take us and Bury, Steve Dale had recently bought Bury for £1 from Stewart Day and Sharon was trying to buy the club from the Administrator at the start of the 2019, with both clubs not permitted to start that season until they provided EFL with proof of funds to complete that season.

Sharon did and we survived and Dale didn't and the EFL basically expelled Bury ending their 130 odd years of existence.

So it isn't letting the club to survive even under a lunatic for a bit longer, it is allowing the lunatic with funds to complete that season and then seeing if the lunatic can fund the next one after that or they won't let them even start it.

I agree, they’ve set up rules to do what they can. But the lunatic can prove they’ve got all the money in the world, it doesn’t mean they’re going to put it into the club if they get bored / fall out with fans / have assets frozen etc.

Short of making a new owner put something like 5 years’ worth of expected losses into escrow (which they’d never do and frankly couldn’t do), they just don’t have the levers to pull to make sure any new owner keeps pumping cash in year after year to cover the inevitable losses - so you’re relying to a degree on good faith.
