Maybe because they cant be arsed travelling to Horwich where as Burnden was nearly town centre, Horwich is out in the sticks so to speak

It's an impossible question to answer though carlos, our attendances for cup games were nowt special in the past as far as I remember...

 

The cup game attendance problem is not just us either, so it seems harsh to pin it on the Reebok

Thank f*ck for season ticket sales. Against Sunderland, if you take away the ST holders and away fans, then only 2,000 people made the journey without a ticket - and we're a team fighting for a place in Europe.

 

Luckily Jackburn make our very average support look good - they managed 18,500 and they're higher than we are in the league.

That's different. That is losing fans due to the club's inability to see beyond a few quid in the coffers. Which is best, 15,000 @ ??20 or 28,000 @ ??12?

 

To save you bothering:

 

15,000 x 20 = ??300,000

 

28,000 x 12 = ??316,000

 

I'm not taking into account prices for kids and oaps, etc. but you get the drift?

We have lost some fans by moving to Horwich.

 

Problem is (for the people that care about atmosphere) they have been more than replaced by newer more sanitised football fans.

 

Not a problem for the club yet as they're still selling 20,000 ST's and that's all they care about.

 

If that figure dropped significantly, then perhaps they'd do something?

I believe that a large amount of people go to the Reebok as football, and the Premiership is in vogue. Look at the way Wigan have grown their crowds from 2k to 20k, are these people fans or daytrippers?

 

I think our core support has slipped back down to about 7k, it was 4k in Division 4 and about 12k when we were at Burnden. Some cup games, the UEFA ones especially, were reasonably priced but really poorly attended. This is because they appeal to the hardcore but not the SoccerAM generation.

i consider myself as hardcore a fan as anyone, been all over the country the last 15 years following the whites, day and night, rain or shine, leage and cup, newcastle to southend.

 

but this week i find myself not goin to boro away because i just cant be arsed...

237 in a 67,000 capacity ground.

 

The new redevelopment of the ground will see a 25,000 reduction in capacity to make it look fuller.

I know thousands who won't go up there

Not only is that serious, I believe that representatives of BWFC were over there advising them on their new stadium which was being modelled on ours. They won't have a problem recreating the atmosphere anyway.
