Time For A Reality Cheak

rite after coming back from my weekend down in bournemouth to watch oldham with a few mates i want to order everyone on wways who is feeling like its hard to watch bolton and enjoy it to go and watch eaither oldham, bury, rochdale or stockport and judge there day against a day at the reebok.

im getting realy bored of reading complaints about are style of football, are lack of atmospher at the reebok, are lack of buying quality plays or how things were so much better in the good old days at burnden etc etc etc.

after siting thru that oldham display on the weekend i thank god im blessed to have picked bolton as my team 15 years ago. we are spoilet at bolton we have a fantastic stadium that is somewhere we should all be proud of, we have had 3 season in a row in the top 8 in the best league in the world, we now have an owner who will back the club and give us cash to spend to improve the sqaud and club and we have a loyal manager who gives 120% to the club to make this sucsess last for years and years to come.

i could go on but i dont want to bore you like a post from natasha (no offence love)

At the end of the day, i go to the Reebok to watch BWFC play football. Alright the 'matchday experience' is all the more enjoyable if things were how they used to be, but thats not the reason why i go. If playing the long ball gets us three points, then its a job well done. Thats the idea isn't it?

it did pick me because my dad was a fan and my family lived in great lever at the time but if i wanted to i could have picked to suport man utd or city i just probably wouldent have gone that much

i agree compleatly and to be frank i still enjoy the match experience as i always have done even at burnden we had just as many rainy 0-0 draws and poor peformances as we do now if not more. i have great memories of burnden but i can rember the poor days as well when the only saveing grace for the day was going back to my grans and watching baywatch and gladiatours to chear myself up.

All the supporters of these teams that you mention would give their right arm to be in the position that we are in, we don't know how lucky we are.

I fully agree with you glossop apart from the bit about the manager, I think he only gives 100% ;)

Watching the Arsenal game from 94 on another thread made me realise how much I miss the old days. We were up and coming and were "giant killers", these days were awesome but I was 12 years younger and maybe that has something to do with it.

I just don't have the same feeling of passion when we run onto the pitch now. Maybe I am getting old or maybe the whole experience has changed

yeah that night was awsome i was a 11 at the time and it actualy gave me something to boast about at school instead of getting the mic taken out of me that i had prepared myself for

i dont get as exsited about things as i used to i think its partly because iv grown up but also that we are no longer a strugerling team that was underdogs in most of the big games we are now a team that everyone fears to play and dont have the same feeling of suprize when we win

You appreciate things more when you've been through the worst. It's all too easy to forget the 4th Division days, getting relegated there by play off and getting excited that we were going to spend ??35k on Paul Comstive. In fact, I remember an away game at Watford where Comstive scored a cup equaliser on a Tuesday night (for an aggregate win) - that was classed as a giant killing at the time!

On the other hand, you were watching football then at a fiver or less with absolutely no hope of success and pandering to the Bolton trait of loving a good moan. For some, that will always beat success.

Personally, I'm between the two. I hate the showbiz, the cosy seating, the excessive stewarding and the high prices, but you can't really moan about the quality of the football when you've seen Trevor Morgan or got excited over a Barry Cowdrill run up the wing!

Not for the first time you miss the point by a country mile.

You don???t support Oldham so whether they play in a muddy field or the Nou Camp you will never be able to truly feel the atmosphere because, ultimately, you have no interest in the team.

Back in the late 80???s and 90???s we may not have had the big-name, overpaid ponces we do now but we had a squad of players that although technically shite, tried to play football in the right way. And when it came off under Bruce Rioch it was a hundred times more satisfying than anything we have achieved under Fat Sam.

You don???t support Oldham so whether they play in a muddy field or the Nou Camp you will never be able to truly feel the atmosphere because, ultimately, you have no interest in the team.

You could replace the word Oldham with Bolton and it would apply to you!

Ok, let???s look at two major victories in the recent history of BWFC.

Both away from home, and both 2-1 victories in our favour.

In the early 90???s we visited the mighty Hull City on a Friday night. Losing 1-0, down to 10 men when up stepped John McGinlay to inspire a famous 2-1 victory. Cue pitch invasion and several thousand happy Bolton fans.

A few years ago we visited Old Trafford, and a Michael Ricketts winner helped us to a 2-1 victory. A great day that was repeated the following season, but was either victory at Manchester United as enjoyable as winning at Hull City?

Not on your nelly.

i went to the games you mention, also burnely with 9 men and loads of others.

the 2-1 at united was at least as good as any other day, the 1-0 at united was just business as usual by then :good:

the point you are missing tasher is that you can not have one without the other, if we had nt won at hull we would nt have the game at united, maybe we would have won there some time in the future but the Hull game was a catalyst, so you can argue it was more important in that sense.

BUT (a big but) the 2-1 game at United was brilliant just because we were there and competing on a level with United (i missed the win in 70s but saw us beat them at home), beating them and hearing the bolton fans singing 'can we play you every week' is one of the ultimate highlights of being a bolton fan.

i see why you would nt get this, as you are not a real bolton fan after all.

now run off, your boss needs a brew.

I don???t want to be a real fan. I am a real supporter, i.e. I attend matches, am a lifeline member etc.

I am a fan of Lancashire Cricket Club, but haven???t been in years. I am a fan of Gina G but have never seen her in concert. I am a fan of darts, but I???ve never been to a darts tournament.

A fan is pretty much worthless to BWFC, they want supporters.

p.s. I don???t have a boss.

god so many points to cover natasha but i realy dont think i can be arsed trying to prove a point to you because you will always belive you are rite.

what i would like to ask you tho is what would have to happen to make you enjoy being a bolton "suporter" (fan) because you seem to hate everything that bolton wanderers are about thease days

Just one thing needs to happen for me to enjoy being a Bolton supporter again ??? the sacking of Sam Allardyce.

I wouldn???t care who replaced him because NO ONE can play as negative and unattractive football as Fat Sam.

Without the shackles of hoof-n-hope football players like Diouf, Stelios, Vaz Te and now Alelka would thrive.

Bring back the dream team of Col and Roy! :) One good thing is season tickets don't cost as much in the Coca Cola leagues!

sod it lets bring back phil neal then lets realy relive the good times!

Everyone should try and watch a different match.

I'm going watching Burnley v Barnsley next week at Turf Moor.

Also seen East Stirling v Elgin and Hearts v Celtic this season.

So I'm looking forward to 'living it up' at the Reebok on Saturday.

Still wont make me renew my season ticket though.

Vaz Te :D

Thank god Sam is still here. :***************************************)

I was at Hull on that Friday night and the two victories over Man U. The best result of the three was the 2-1 win at Old Trafford. That convinced me that we were not going to be relegated from the Premier and that we were going to have a lengthy stay in the top division. Sam is the reason we are still in the Premier and doing well. Other managers may have been able to do the same but we just don't know.

remind me again who brought these players to the reebok, admit it because big sam jumped the hot dog queue he is your satan.
