Stayaway fans should stayaway!

By Readers' Letter

With regards to Stayaway fans, I think that they should stay away because the team and Sam should know that the fans who do spend their hard earned cash following them do so, week in and week out - and are more passionate about the team than those who pick or choose their games.

This is even more apparent for away games. The atmosphere at away games is electric at times and that has only ever been seen at The Reebok on a handful of occasions.

You can ask anyone at an away game and they would much prefer to watch games away from home than at The Reebok - plus the fact 9 time out of 10 we always play better anyway.

I much prefer away games, especially the atmosphere, but I'm sorry J, you're wrong about playing better - when was the last time we won away from home?

I think last December was the last time we won away.

i think the main reason there was less there agaist spurs was just down to it being early august and there are alot of people on holiday or have just spent alot of money over the kids school holidays and saw it was on sky and thought sod it ill save a bit of money

i think he was making the point that an away game is a better day out not that we play better

dogshit

it means they have either more dispensable income, nowt else in their lives that demands the same time and attention such as work and families, or have not lost the appeal that matchday brings.

Any one of these will affect every football fan at some point in their life.

When you reach that point will you be less of a fan than someone who has only been watching for a couple of years and has nowt else to spend their time and money on other than watching the whites?

I went all the way to charlton knowing I coulnt get in but I was there in spirit. :drinks: Does that make me more or less of a fan than you?

Agreed. I would love to go to every game, I have the money to do it but I can't due to not having enough time, work etc....doesn't mean I don't support Bolton as much as anybody else.

You sound like a 14 year old (if you are a 14 year old then I apologise, you write ok for your age).

So you just want the hardcore to attend matches, those that will go to all the home and away games?

FFS, where do these plebs come from? You don???t suddenly wake up one morning and decide to be a hardcore Bolton fan. You might try the odd game one season. The next season you might go to half the games, and the season after that the majority. Then you might buy a season ticket and so on.

The pick-and-choose fans of today could be the season ticket holders of tomorrow.

Idiot.

Natasha,

By signing your posts ' Idiot ', you have gone up massively in my estimation. Will to live returning.

Regards,

Bolty.

Or, like the majority of die-hard fans, you go to your first match and form an instant bond to that club and will know that you'll support this club for the rest of your life (read Fever Pitch to get an idea of where I'm coming from), and go to as many games as you can, rather than just the 'Category A' type games. Don't get me wrong though I don't agree with the original posters letter but just wanted to pick up on this.

Why do people constantly go on about stayaway fans and who is more hardcore. Is a fan who lives 2 miles from the ground and goes every week more hardcore than the fan who goes to half the games but travels up from London for example. Your passion for your club comes from within every fan knows just how passionate they are. Different fans show this in different ways. There are far too many factors to take into consideration when looking at support. We are starting to sound like southern manure fans who constantly tryt and justify their support. I even saw a manure fan with a car sticker saying 'loyal man u fan'. How sad for FFS.

Most Manyoo fans i know hate people refering to them as Man U! so that ruins that sticker!

the sound of a manc saying 'united' in its scouse-wannabee tone really makes me cringe...
