October 24, 200718 yr while i am absolutely gutted we have two choices now, get behind him, or stay away, turning up to boo and hiss wont help and lets all pray that our gut reaction is wrong and he succeeds
October 24, 200718 yr The last time I felt this bad was on Sept 11th 2001 when my brain just couldn't comprehend what had just occurred. I hope you are happy Garty.

Why don't we all go as usual, get behind the team but wear one of these:
October 24, 200718 yr i too would be extremely disappointed IF he's appointed, but it would not stop me going to watch MY team!

October 24, 200718 yr Final nail in the coffin for me. We are not likely to stay up now. How will he command the respect of the likes of Anelka and Diouf? He won't that's what.
October 24, 200718 yr im flabergasted (what a word!!!!!) if he's confirmed i'll back this guy FOR NOW little other option however i think he will struggle to keep the team togeather it needs a figure head, a big name, somebody who will hold the attn of the dressing room i doubt this ginger could hold the attn of his living room!!!

Or as Frankie Howerd might have said : Never has my gast been so flabbered. Not by the Wanderers since the early Eighties anyway. If we support the club, then we have to back the club while a new manager proves himself ..... or until he doesn't. As for tomorrow night, if Megson is announced or presented pre-match, my reaction will be total silent indifference. He'd be on trial and his previous is unconvincing at best. But it would be such a daft unambitious appointment it might just work. Returning my season ticket or staying away is not an option. Booing would be counter-productive in its probable effect on the players & morale (such as it is).

However, I don't think there is any realistic chance of us being promoted this season. There is going to be a price to pay for all the instability factored into the club over the last 6 months or so.
October 24, 200718 yr Ginger hair, stinks of piss. FACT. How can he command respect, he is a nobody in football.
October 24, 200718 yr I fear he is in a no win situation for a while Megson The fans will get on Gartsides case tomorrow (and rightly so) and its up to Megson to prove him right. Good luck fella your gonna feckin need it
October 25, 200718 yr I fear he is in a no win situation for a while Megson The fans will get on Gartsides case tomorrow (and rightly so) Why should the fans get on Gartside's case tomorrow after all the success he has brought to the club before Allardyce shit on him ? He and the rest of the board have had to pick one manager from a bad bunch, what else can he do?

He and the rest of the board have had to pick one manager from a bad bunch, what else can he do? Rarely do I disagree with you Zozzy, and I think you'll agree I am one of the most positive ones on here. To draw an analogy, I am the state manager for a major power transmission company over here and I am responsible for finding and employing every one of the 5 staff in this branch office. I am judged on results and last year had to make two changes because two people weren't performing at the appropriate level. Had I not done this, I am the poor fecker who gets it in the neck for their poor performance and risk the sack myself. As an aside - it worked out and we have just achieved a record year I am fairly confident that, if we do get Megson, he will fail. Even worse from my point of view is that such an appointment sends out a massive lack of ambition message to all of our enemies - all of the EPL; our Euro opponents and scumbags like Burnley, Preston and Blackpool. I fear we are digging ourselves a hole that we won't climb out of for a very long time. Won't change my outlook - Bolton til I die - but what a tragic waste of an opportunity if we fritter away our EPL status.
October 25, 200718 yr I just posted this on another forum. For what it's worth. I got a phone call last night from a mate who is a big Baggies fan (even got a personalised WBA number plate FFS! Crazy ) I thought that he had called to gloat, but his comments were surprisingly positive. Basically he says that Megson will certainly keep us up this year - but he'll do it by grinding out 1-0 and 1-1 results. He said get used to playing 5-4-1 at home (nothing new there!) Longer term he can see nothing that Megson will add to our rather tawdry party. He summed up by saying Megson was Allardyce without the transfer market flair. I tried to set him straight on BSA's transfer activities (well, the "flair" bits anyway), but it was getting late and I had already lost the will to live. I hope he is as good for us as Allardyce was. AND AT LEAST IT'S NOT GRAEME SOUNESS! ...and that's as positive as it gets.
October 25, 200718 yr The worst thing for me is that after only 10 games gone, our EPL status could have been salvaged - with the right man. Back in 92-93 i had a gut feeling that we were going places, now after 15 magical years i have another "gut feeling" - but this time, it's that we are about to hit a very dark period in the clubs history. I'm gutted.
October 25, 200718 yr I disagree with bolty on this one and like what I read from Zulu's baggie friend. None of us know whether Megson will do a better job than Souness, Jewell or Coleman, or whether they were actually all available for that matter. We are not choosing between Megson, Mourinho or Wenger. Give Gartside a bit of slack, he has been a better chairman than most in the English leagues in the last few years.
