That depends on which part of the city that you'd class as the centre ie the business centre or where the bars etc are. It's less than 2 miles from the Gran Via / Puerto del Sol area if that helps, seeing as most folk from here are staying round there. It's less than 20 minutes on the Metro from Sol or Opera stations, OPera is better as you don't change and is only about 300 yards walk from Sol square.
