Rembrandt Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Slightly offline from the Wanderers, but just noticed that Leigh RMI (previously Horwich RMI) seem to have changed their name to Leigh Genesis FC for the coming season, in line with their move to a new stadium. Even more odd is a statement on their new website : "1896 (As Horwich RMI) : Changed Name To Leigh Genesis In 1995". I've only ever seen them as 'Leigh RMI', even when I've been to Hilton Park to see them. Anyone over that way able to shed any light on this ?
LeggyMountbatten Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 They've been bought out by some young whizz kid who owns some travel company up Lostock way. They are going full time next season in the Unibond. Name change and full time won't change the fact that they will still gate 100 through the gates every week.
wackerchackers Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Went passed the new ground t'other week and it looks alreet. Me & a few others are gonna attend a few games this season, just to check the ground out. So they might get 105 in attendance for a couple of games.
revdishydave Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 they were RMI when i was there until 1998 (2 reserve apps (sub), u18s)
Smiffs Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Makes sense. We've not had a railway line in Leyth since the 1400's and what do we want to be associated with Horwich for?
eaststandlower Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 what next Hyde Galaxy, solihull Red Bull? its just a little.... exotic let's say for Leigh.
whiteboy Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 solihull Red Bull? I think i'd prefer that to Moors

Smiffs Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 You never know. The land could end up land locked and hence worthless.
no balls Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 You never know. The land could end up land locked and hence worthless. Do people pay real money for land in Leyth?
Smiffs Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 No we swap our wimmin for it. Any bartering is settled by pitch and toss. Any contractual disputes are settled by six-shooters outside the Town Hall, third Saturday of the month at 3pm sharp.
