June 12, 200817 yr I recently suggested Harper would be a good signing for us, looks like Megson agrees. http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football...arper_in_demand
June 15, 200817 yr Author fooking average at best, typical Megson signing shall we compose a list of average players who Sam Allardyce signed? I can tell you for every good un there were 3 average, I am sick and tired of people using this website as judge and jury on megson, let us wait and see what he delivers, if he fails then rightly criticise, but until then can you all shut up.

Hang about, don't be blaming the site, it's only a handful of posters and mainly YW that slag Megson off in EVERY post they make.
June 16, 200817 yr This whole 'I'm going to slag him off at every point until he proves me wrong' stance is bollocks anyway. These people clearly don't want to be proved wrong. Megson came in, everyone thought we were doomed, he proved them wrong. Which is enough for most people to have an open mind and give him a chance, but not for some, because now he's got to get us into midtable. And if he does that it's Europe, and so on and so on. There will always be a reason to dislike him and they'll always be people who'll say we need such and suchabody to take us forward. Megson will never prove these people wrong simply because they'll be fucked if they're going to allow themselves to be proved wrong.

June 17, 200817 yr fooking average at best, typical Megson signing Cahill, Steinsson and taylor were 'average' were they? Are you not just a wiggin fan hoping the whites fall at each hurdle, For every Anelka, JJ and Youri signed by sam there were countless Diawara's, Nishizawas and Bulents.

You enjoy the uefa cup away games did you? Good I did too, cause you aint getting them again for a while! BSA was a genius, Megson is in dreamland in a job he doesnt deserve. June 17, 200817 yr i did indeed, but how can you tell Megson isn't going to get us to europe? why do you bother following BWFC if all you want is for them to fail so you can go on the internet and tell people 'i told you so' I'd be quite happy with a season of mid table mediocrity this year and build on that and megson has shown me nothing to say we can't do that, but hey you keep slagging off the club and megson maybe you'll be right once and can be a happy little man.

Tis all about opinions, if this was a two legs good, four legs bad type forum, I would not hang around. Truth is he inherited a squad that had finished top 8 for a few seasons and bwfc survived by the skin of their teeth through the efforts and determination of the senior players. IMO Megson is well out of his depth, cannot or does not want to manage foreign players. Tis only my opinion though and I will be happy if I am proved wrong. As for what he delivers, if the Sunderland performance is par for the Megson course - no thanks! Edited June 17, 200817 yr by Big_Girl_Oral_Explosion
June 17, 200817 yr Thank Foock I thought you meant Alan Harper, I'd even play Jussi ahead of him. Not Roger? Good hands, mind.
June 17, 200817 yr Truth is he inherited a squad that had finished top 8 for a few seasons and bwfc survived by the skin of their teeth through the efforts and determination of the senior players. That's not strictly true, though, is it? The squad he inherited was missing Faye and Ben Haim, who had both been key players the previous season. Players like Speed, Stelios and Campo were already knocking on a bit, and were suddenly a year older, and the cracks that had been glaringly obvious for a massive chunk of the previous season had been papered over will all manner of shite brought in by Sammy Lee during his short spell in the manager's office. They pulled together in the end, but if you think our survival was down to the "efforts and determination of the senior players" rather than Megson's signing of Taylor, Steinsson, Cahill and, er, Rasiak in the summer, then there's something up.
June 17, 200817 yr Good player this lad. I dont know what the feck some of you expect. You wont be signing Deco, Barry etc. You cant compete with the top 10 for players, maybe not even the 5 after that. Players down on their luck, off form, dispute with manager/clubs, are very often some of the buys of the season for any Club. I would even have harper in our squad.
June 17, 200817 yr I would even have harper in our squad. Some good and fair points Pablo. The key word for me is 'squad'. For ?3M we expect a first team player. I don't think Harper achieved that at Reading, he seemed to be a well used sub a lot of the time.

June 17, 200817 yr The key word for me is 'Workhorse who is no improvement what-so-ever on what we already have'. Ok, so more than one word but you get the point. We've got midfielders coming out of our arsehole, so unless they are creative then they can fcuk off.
June 17, 200817 yr You cant compete with the top 10 for players, maybe not even the 5 after that. Whilst the rest of your post makes sense do fook off with that
June 17, 200817 yr We've got midfielders coming out of our arsehole I'm not too sure about that, we've just lost a few for various reasons (Guthrie, Campo, Stelios, Andranik, Alonso) Leaving us with just Nolan, McCann, Dzemaili, JOB, Cohen, Taylor & Muamba............possibly also Gardner at a push. (apologies if I have missed any out) That gives a grand total of 8, which is hardly loads is it

(apologies if I have missed any out) That gives a grand total of 8, which is hardly loads is it And with that there's: - Nolan: Key player. - McCann: Isn't going to consistently help us push on, despite a decent end of season run of form. - Dzemaili: Probably won't make it. - JOB: Bit slow, but will do a job as a holding midfielder, where Muamba will probably play. - Cohen: Hasn't yet convinced me to be anything more than a tough tackling headless chicken. - Taylor: Much better as a left forward. Not really much evidence that he can play in central midfield with our system. - Muamba: To play the holding role? We could do with strengthening the midfield, although other areas need improving. I'd eye up one or two of Guthrie, Ben Watson and Harper, along with that Ghanaian we're supposedly after and go from there. Yes, we may need a more creative midfielder, but a couple more options like the above would improve our situation IMO.

We've got midfielders coming out of our arsehole, so unless they are creative then they can fcuk off. Nolan, McCann, Dzemaili, JOB, Cohen, Taylor & Muamba, Gardner. Hardly bursting with talent. Only Nolan, Muamba, Taylor are better than average. So your telling me that One of Readings best and most consistant Prem performers is not better than McCann, Dzemaili, JOB, Cohen, ?? Who the fcuk are they ???? Edited June 18, 200817 yr by Pablo
June 18, 200817 yr Who the fcuk are they ???? Lad's got a point, I'm sorry to say. Joey's alright, but he's really there to fill in when we've nobody else. Unlike a lot, I have made my mind up about Cohen. He's not good. McCann isn't going to get any better - and there's a fair chance he'll regularly be worse - than the last couple of months of last season. Dzemaili might well turn out to be class, but it isn't something we should be banking on.
June 18, 200817 yr Nolan, Muamba, Taylor, Harper. That has the making of a good solid midfield. Good age, ALL British. Add a couple of flair players, and thats looking good.
