When we beat Spurs? Some of you fcukers couldn't wait for us to lose a game, and probably warmed a little when Bent made it 2-2, just to get back on the wagon.

 

We are the same size or smaller than most top end championship teams and like it or not just staying up is success for us. That isn't a lack of ambition - it's called realism. We've had a couple of great years but in retrospect, given the current climate, UEFA cup was the worst thing to ever happen to BWFC - it's now the millstone round the neck of every future XI wearing the shirt. We punched above our weight, we still are.

 

It was wonderful, and hopefully one day we'll have another crack. But expecting it and hoping for it are 2 vastly different things.

 

Getting shut of Megson now would be the worst possible thing to do and the instability probably would send us down.

Not at all, we were worse than useless at Everton, one of the poorest I've seen in a long time.

 

My point, rant/beer induced as it was, was how quick some folk are to get on here and want Megson hung for crimes against humanity .... but the same people are awfully quiet when we win. We're all Bolton fans, we all want the best for club... or are meant to anyway, annoys me when I hear (as on Saturday) "If we lose a few more Mugson'll' fcuk off".....

if people think megson is not the man to take us forward and think we need a change at the top, the only way this will happen is because of results on the pitch so the short term pain of a defeat is worth it for the long term benefit.

 

i do not like megson, but i can see what he is trying to do on the playing side. he needs to learn a lot about the other parts of being a manager at this level which includesw his comments to the press and getting the players involved at fans events. i am not sure i want to support a club where the players are discouraged from turning up at club open days and the like. Megson has said he does not think they should attend these events in the past. (i doo not have a link to such stories but the fact players do not attend is a sad comment on the club and the players)

 

there are signs he is starting to progress so will give him time. the most recent lifeline do i think all the players were there.

 

the fact is that megson is not an immediatly likeable bloke he does not have the charisma and personality of some top managers, so he will have to win people over rather than having the harry redknapp cheeky chappy appeal (i think he is a two faced twitchy dodgy cunt my self). But i would rather have megson here looking after the long term future of the club than some media darling spunking millions on explayers.

I bet half the people on here dont even go to Bolton games or watch them live on TV. Yet they still think they are the Bolton Wanderers Oracle.

Oh dear. Listen sonny, there's folk on here who have done (or had done to them) things that would have you running off to mummy. I ain't proud of some of the things I got up to when I was a lot younger but, I came through the mad times from 69 through the early 80's and, believe me, it's like kindergarten these days by comparison. Yes, they tool themselves up with guns and knives now but, in those days it was mainly toe to toe with a few exceptions (a certain event at Blackpool springs to mind). If you couldn't take it, you didn't last long. Them days, Bolton didn't run - stood and faced it whatever the odds.

 

Me personally? Been glassed by Hells Angels at the Seven Stars in Heywood. Gun pulled on me near Naples; held against my forehead with 'You want die, English?', stabbed in the shoulder by a greaser in Astley Bridge and hundreds of incidents on the terraces and in places wherever we played.

 

Past it now son so this is not written to impress or boast. Only recounted to indicate that I am unlikely to do owt but laugh at 'I bet you wouldn't say that to my face'. Like any other field of human endeavour, it might pay you to try and take advantage of the wisdom and experience of those that have gone before. There's some top people on here but I have a suspicion that you won't get much longer to find that out. Like a lot of other younger end ones, you'll get the p1ss taken out of you. Them that take it and give a bit back earn respect (Kempo, Ashey and even Olispence who has been ribbed mercilessly for example). Losing your cool won't get you anywhere except, perhaps, a one way ticket to a rival site.
