Traf Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Surely you are not saying that the defensive duties of Steinsson are questionable? Wash your mouth out. The Steinsson-blinkered-mob on here think he is the best right back we have ever had. I don't belong in that mob. Steinsson is far better than Hunt, but is positionally naive. As a regular right back, he's the best we've had since Bergsson though. N'Gotty did OK there, but full back (right & left) has been a problem area for us.
Casino Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 bergsson was a no better than steinnson full back better defensively but poor going forward, even ina team that scored 3000 goals in that one season best right back in my time would be ritson, i think - followed by steinnson, ngotty and bergsson who are all much of a muchness and left back, dunne followed by gardner

Think Candela has a shout for our best left back.
Sumo Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Barness ? jesus christ , I'd rate him as one of the worst players to ever play in the Premiership never mind for Bolton. It takes a lot for me to post on here but Barness one of our best right backs ?

Aye, aparently he was rated as the most skillfull player we had (on the training ground), after Youri that is. He was Ok, didn't say he was one of the best but going off our players from recent years I think he was better than Hunt and wouldn't look out of place in the current team.

Had a cracking shot on the lad as well!
Theboybell Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 candela???? great player but not for us!!! Mercianary!
Traf Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 candela???? great player but not for us!!! it's one of those rare-as-rockinghorseshit moments, but I agree with Homo.
ph31 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 (edited) thought the topic said Kevin Davies?? I dont see the link, has he ever played at right back?? Anyway good bit about where he was just before he joined us; http://www.wsc.co.uk/content/view/2601/29/ Candela was god awful for us. Edited March 3, 2009 by ph31

Barness was fucking wank full stop. He used to back off so much he was nearly in the stands. To say he is better than Hunt is absolute fucking dogshit.
Chris T. Church Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Really don't think either was that bad for us and wanted to keep Candela at the time but he p*ssed off back to Udinese or whoever it was. Seen as I'm on a role, I'm gona go for Whitlow and Chalton in the centre. Wonder how many yellow/red cards Davies would get if he did play at right back.

Davies at right back? Has your morning brew been spiked?

Chris T. Church Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Whitlow and Charlton in the centre? Davies at right back? Has your morning brew been spiked? No, I always talk this much bullsh*t. Davies was just hypothetical but it doesn't bear thinking about anyway.

Its is close to unbelievable how close he was to bein a complete failier as a footballing pro. Big Sam deserves all the plaudits when it comes to Kevin Davies.

Surely the man himself had something to do with his own resurgence? Workrate, attitude and application have been exemplary since Day 1.
Carlos Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Seems like only yesterday he was a wee lad, outpacing our defence to send us out of the FA Cup in what was "giant killing".
Theboybell Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Surely the man himself had something to do with his own resurgence? Workrate, attitude and application have been exemplary since Day 1. I was thinking that, reading it back did sound like he had nothing to do with it! Of course he himself with all qualitys you suggest has got him to where he is today. My point was supposed to be without Sams Punt on him from Southampton it is very likely that SKD would be classed in same bracket as Ricketts.

Could you please define what you mean by 'complete failier'
Theboybell Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Could you please define what you mean by 'complete failier' Not a sucsess
Ani Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Not a sucsess i think kev d had been very succesful as a pro before he came to bolton. he has gone to a much higher level since he has been here but the idea he was a complete failure as a pro is total and utter bollocks.
Traf Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Ah, but Ani doesn't know the difference between sucsess and failier.
