Has he passed away?

True gentleman and genuine football man, they dont make them like that anymore. He was one person I would loved to have met and just talked football with over a couple of beers.

RIP

Meet him once when I lived in Newcastle. A true football gent and legend.

RIP 'Uncle' Bobby.

I knew he was ill, but did nt realise he was that close to death.

Width of a goal post away from winning the world cup in 1990.

RIP.

RIP indeed, a proper gentleman.

R.I.P. Sir Bobby.

A sad day

R.I.P Sir Bobby

A true gent

RIP

Truely a sad day, just been told that a work colleague has also sadly passed away

A top man and a massive loss to football, what I particularly liked was not just his passion for the game but the youthfulness almost childlike love for the game this shone through every time he spoke.

A great man who just loved football. RIP

R.I.P.

Fantastic guy, never heard anyone say a bad word about him.

I dont think we will ever see fans from all clubs from these shores and even abroad be united in sympathies for the fella.

Why not?

RIP.

A top bloke..

RIP Sir Bobby

Fantastic guy, never heard anyone say a bad word about him.

Except the press who slaughtered him on a weekly basis in the 80's

Why not?

RIP.

Because he was liked by all very unusual, cant see the same for when someone like Ericsson pops em, Theres not many about that have th Calibre of Robson

Why not?

RIP.

As he was an extremely popular man, especially abroad where he was very successful.

How many British managers travel, be successful and do it while avoiding the unsavoury spite of Benitez, Ferguson, Wenger etc, and thus could obtain that popularity?

An example

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/footbal...ls-1129052.html

BOBBY ROBSON was described in Rome's Corriere dello Sport yesterday as "the Spencer Tracy of football".

It is a delightful and not inappropriate image. A typical Tracy character was, according to Aylesworth and Bowman's World Guide to Filmstars, "a tough, humourous fellow who was also a pillar of integrity". Tracy the actor was further described as possessing "solidity", "dependability" and "dignified unprentiousness".

Very sad.

RIP Sir Bobby
