I still remember the 1990 world cup like yesterday, players respected him for who he was, which will no doubt be his legacy.

Except the press who slaughtered him on a weekly basis in the 80's

Didn't know that, but I was very young back then.

I will say, one of the main reasons I got into watching footy was the 1990 world cup, was six at the time and can remember it clear as day. Thanks for the memories Bobby.

What a legend. RIP Bobby

met him once outside the reebok a reserve team match.

Best England manager since Sir Alf. Sad loss of an absolute gentleman. RIP Bobby.

That is a matter of opinion.El Tel lost a semi final to Germany but didn't have the embarrassment of a Euro 88.

RIP

I dont think we will ever see fans from all clubs from these shores and even abroad be united in sympathies for the fella.

Because he was liked by all very unusual, cant see the same for when someone like Ericsson pops em, Theres not many about that have th Calibre of Robson

As he was an extremely popular man, especially abroad where he was very successful.

How many British managers travel, be successful and do it while avoiding the unsavoury spite of Benitez, Ferguson, Wenger etc, and thus could obtain that popularity?

An example

I was asking why he didn't think he think everyone would unite in sympathies, which he did post originally. Albeit a typo obviously.

RIP.

R.I.P. Sir Bobby Robson.

A True Footballing Legend.

Terrible news. Can't think of another player or manager who would generate such a genuine outpouring of emotion from the entire world of football, whatever your allegiances.

Hopefully we'll have our chance to pay our respects as a club at Jussi's testimonial.

God bless you Bobby! R.I.P.

A true legend of the game

Bloody great bloke, down to earth, gave his all, liked by just about everyone.

What he did at Ipswich is probably forgotten because of Clough's achievements around the same era at Forest, but he built a cracking team then, playing football the right way too.

True legend. RIP.

No surprise that you'd piss on the chips. In respect of the man, you'll keep for another day.

I read sir Bobby s autobiography on my hols last year and would recommend it to you all a facinating read . A true gentleman who didnt let the big time go to his head , infact he despised the bling bling culture now in footy . A working man who at 14 was working in the pits with his father to earn extra cash for his family then afther 12 hour session underground training for fulham. Can you imagine a pro player doing that these day s
