Is This Good For Us?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/se...cudamore-squads

I would argue yes. Don't know if the Ginger One's transfer policy has been influenced by this coming decision or whether he's just a bit xenophobic or unable to attract foreign players, but it looks like we already meet all the criteria. Our squad is not many more than 25 players and plenty of English/English trained players in there already.

Also, if the rules come in regarding how the club is run financially I would argue we would be well placed for this also. We seem to at least try and run the club as a viable business, even though the debt never seems to get reduced and perhaps this could play into our hands.

I don't really agree with Scudamore on anything but at last there seems to be some common sense coming back into the game.

Knowing our luck it'll be the best thing to happen to the Prem in years and we'll get relegated. Not that I think we will, start of the season last Saturday and we've got a 100% record!

think chelsea are fucked...

apparently both chelsea and liverpool have the minimum number with 8 each. bolton have 17 whilst aston villa have the most with 24. it's a little bit deceiving as by home-grown it doesn't necessarily mean "british". it just means that they need to have been with a club for 3 years before the age of 21. as such i think arsenal have something like 15 players who come under that eligibility - even though they only have a handful of "british" players i.e. walcott, ramsey, wilshire and gavin hoyte

where does gardner stand in all of this?

where does a gardner stand in all of this?

In the garden normally :pardon:

so will the big guns be raiding Villa then?

They wont need to.

Makes no difference at all, every club fits that criteria now anyway.

Blackburn will suffer - unless Big Sam's buying policy changes radically.

True, but Liverpool only have 9. If one or two were to retire or some want to move on then they would have to replace them with British bred players in contrast to what Rafa usuaully prefers to do in going abroad. Then again they could just give more of their youth team players professional contracts and keep on buying foriegn players for the 1st team.

They will have someone to come through, and if you look at Liverpool's reserves, its made up of Spanish and Frecnsh Kids, that have been at the club for a while......these are Homegrown.

I think they should go as far as 3-5 English players in every starting 11, but for this to work, it needs to go across Europe.

No way would British clubs agree to this, as it would give the rest of Europe an edge.

Maybe start it in the FA Cup and League Cup, see how it goes.

It wont affect my club, I think we have a superb policy, and so do many other Clubs in the Prem, its only really the top 4 that are causing a problem.
