Just in time Wigley in charge for what should be a win against Linclon then a new manager in place for a famous win at Arsenal( the curse of the new manager). We do need to act quick though as to not miss out in the transfer window. I personally would like Hughes, he has the ability to attract good players and some of the waifes and straifes that City class as second string, doubt he would come though.

Megson had is faults its plain to see, but Bolton fans (not every one) in general have been disrespectful and very poor "supporters" from the day Gaz walked in.

We would have more points and I believe already be more safe from relegation already but for our Shite fans.

Gary Megson didn't help himself, in fact you could call him a PR disaster, bet lets be honest it wasn't made easy for him. Sometimes I am ashamed to be a Bolton fan.

I have to agree with a fair amount of that Zoz...

Thank god for that, If ever there was a manager who's position was untenable it was Megson. There has been a horrible atmosphere around the club for too long, one which would have seen us relagated. Hughes has got to be the target, if he turns us down PG has got a massive decision to make, he can't afford to go budget again. Maybe he'll take a gamble on a BWFC old boy to try and unite the fans?? Peter Reid cant be happy as a no 2 at stoke.

Juat put a tenner on Ron Saunders, with a side bet on Malcolm Allison. That's where the clever money is.

there is nothing solid about his signings. That is the reason the club find themselves in the bottom 3. He has systematically undone the good work that was painstakingly carried out since 1991. Whomever comes in will find quite a few players who are simply not up to the job.

Biggest load of bollocks i've ever read on here.....

This is the best news I have had in months!!!!

He signed a few quality players but was too negative and didn't know how to handle the fans. He never attended a single BWFC Supporter association meeting despite being invited and his comments on the TV and in the press in my opinion put the nail in his coffin. I feel no sorrow about him losing the job at all, he should never have got it in the first place!!

As for who next.... I want Owen Coyle but am pretty sure he won't leave Burnley.. Mark Hughes did a decent enough job at Blackburn and did nowt wrong at Citeh so I would go for him!

...and Phil Neal is available for work?

This is spot on.I hope that Gartside or whoever makes that decision has learned from their mistakes.

Not over the moon or gloating but this had to happen. I hope we already have someone lined up and, if it was to be a certain Welsh DMB, for once, I would be delighted with that. I also hold Alan Curbishley in high regard and he would be my second choice.

Fearing a cheap option TBH.

I would like to see McLaren given the job. Apart from the embarrassing "wally with the brolly" type episodes he's managed to create decent footballing teams with moderate success. He is also a proven useful coach. So could we prize him away?

OK, his team are up near the top in the Dutch league but that's like being the world's tallest dwarf.

Also I think that potential signings (if we have any cash) would prefer to play under him that the realistic alternatives.

So I say let's try to get him before somebody else does. Even if he is a ginger.

Im afraid Megson used the early behaviour of the bedsheet brigade as an excuse far too often & in doing so alienated a lot of fans by tarring us all with the same brush.... Bottom line is he was the manager & should have been doing everything possible to give his team an edge, whether by trying to get the fans onside (which wasnt the impossible task some might have you believe) & certainly not by bigging up the opposition before every game.

The man lacked nous, had little people skills & had feck all humility for a very average manager who hit the lottery in even getting near the premiership again given his track record
