worthy10 Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 i moved into a new house in 2001 and the boiler's shot. (potterton puma). Got someone coming from gas board in a couple of weeks. they are doing 12 months interest free. What boilers can you recommend. I live in a four bed detached. And what sort of price should i expect to pay? Cheers
magic legs Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 I think Worcester Bosch and Vaillant combi boilers are the best on the market - as per Which. I've got a Vaillant and would recommend it. Cant remember how much it cost though - its the Ecotec Plus 831.
offside Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Have a look at an air source heat pump, more expensive than a bolier but much more efficient

worthy10 Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Let us know what you get and for how much, I'm going to have to take the plunge soon. will do, but they aren't coming to assess mine until end of the month
Whites man Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 You shouldn't get a combi for a four bed detached mate.
BWFC = Priceless Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Valliant, how many bathrooms do you have like en suite etc?
BWFC = Priceless Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Vailliant, how many bathrooms do you have etc?
MickyD Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 (edited) Valliant is the name of the boiler, not the name of the poster, that'd be Worthy10 or are you maybe adding a subliminal message so he buys a Valliant? Edited April 8, 2010 by MickyD
worthy10 Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 Valliant, how many bathrooms do you have like en suite etc? two bathrooms. including one en suite shower. Why what do you reckon?
BWFC = Priceless Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 You'll probably be looking at either worcester 30cdi but to be on the safe side then 37cdi just better flow rate if both bathrooms in use, vaillant ecoTEC plus 937. For your house i'd proably side with the worcester's
offside Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 Air source heat pump COP of 3+ (do your homework) eg input 8kw output 24kw +, simple.
Winchester White Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 Air source heat pump COP of 3+ (do your homework) eg input 8kw output 24kw +, simple. Reet, considering you are looking at about ?1000 to ?1500, depending on the job and how big a boiler the OP goes for, how much are these air source going to cost in comparison?
Normid Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 About ?2500 - ?3000 if you go with Gritish Bas - rip off merchants Look aroung ?1200 - ?1500
Tonge moor green jacket Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 About ?2500 - ?3000 if you go with Gritish Bas - rip off merchants Look aroung ?1200 - ?1500 Don't touch British Gas. Did mine with Bradshaw's a few years ago- around 60% of BG price, with thermostatic valves too!
Winchester White Posted April 12, 2010 Posted April 12, 2010 BG will charge you anything between ?1500-?2500 just to replace a fucking boiler never mind a full install the robbing gits!
BWFC = Priceless Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Just go for a regular combi boiler, in the long run it won't save you much more money as they are only usefull in 5-6 bed houses with about 4 bathrooms in and 2 living rooms with about 30 radiators in the house.... pointless.
