Bolton Wanderers

It's not like them I know, but there was an idea mooted on the Guardian website today about using the DW stadium as a venue for Rangers fans to watch the match/use as a stopover.

Surely BWFC has better transport links, on both rail and road than Wigan and could be a nice little earner.

Thoughts?

Wigan, if destroyed, would be the same old shithole.

Keep em in Wigan not interested

invite celtic fans and let them tear the fuckin place up

The fckin Scotch bstards should should not be given any tickets and be made to remain up there. I hate Man U with a passion but hope Manure stick fckin ten past those wankers.

Why the fuck would we let the sweaty's wreck our ground? That's a smashing idea financially that is.

Another few thousand bricks should be laid on Hadrians Wall.

Had it been any real scottish team rather than one of the sides that thinks it's from the emerald isle i'd be wanting them to do well but i hope manyoo stuff em.

2 hopes - no and bob!!

OK you get the beer revenue and maybe some form of admission price, but think of the

police & steward bill.

All the seats that will probably need repairing and anything else they can break.

Wigan are welcome to it.

That has reminded me of when they screened 2 or 3 games at Burnden?? Which games were those for??

Manyoo at OT

Wigan can have them, they deserve 'em. Fecking scruffy scottish twats!

Bigots the lot of um! W.A.T.P

Manyoo at OT

They had the Munich game on the big screen in the second season back in the prem.. West Stand completely sold out, was a cracking atmosphere, a few scum fans in the lower tier got a load of stick when Nolan put in the winner, West Stand has never seen an atmosphere like it... wasnt even an home game

you should be stood up against a wall and shot with a shower of shite for even thinking it.

Went to the centre of Manchester for the Zenit/ Rangers game - worst planning of an event I've ever seen. As we got in to Picadilly for the kick off there was a shed load of Rangers fans getting on trains to Bolton, Wigan, etc just to watch the match and that was before the screens fecked up. I suspect a few might stay in Bolton due to cheaper hotel rooms - last time there were a few bars was full of Scots. If I were a Rangers fan I'd rather watch the game in a bar anywhere than end up in the DW, if they don't have a match ticket they shouldn't even bother.

Id use any excuse possible to get away from glasgow.

got to disagree

I doubt any city would account for 100,000 fans from 1 team turning up (or a scottish team making a final)

and even with planning, not sure any city centre could accomodate them all anyway when they're as p?ssed as them lot were either

last time utd played rangers a few coachloads of rangers fans came down to watch it in the pheasent plucker/saddle in horwich, presumably something to do with the addair connection as they didn't go anywhere near manc!

I'd say it was at least 100,000, but even so they should have been more prepared. They must have had a couple of weeks at least to assess how many Scots were on their way down and planned accordingly. There was no regulation at Piccadilly Gardens of how many people could get into the Fanzone to watch on the screens and it was massively overcrowded. When the screens went down they started ferrying people to near City's ground (I think) to watch on another screen but it had already started kicking off. They should have used one of the parks as an overspill area or something.

Shoulda woulda coulda.

How exactly are "they" (whoever they are) supposed to assess the numbers coming down? Myself I'd ask the Jocks, you are then entirely reliant upon their guesswork. Once all tickets are sold, flights and trains full, how exactly do you calculate how many people are intending driving 3 hours down the M6? Then you've got literally thousands of other nuggets from various other parts swelling the numbers.

How exactly do you deal with THAT MANY pissed up idiots? GMP certainly don't have enough manpower, I'd have called in the army myself and rubber bulleted the fuckers. We've seen what Celtic do when 10K turn up for a friendly, the biggest mistake was not being prepared for the inevitable trouble. The centre should have been locked down like the gay village was last weekend (allegedly etc.).

I read somewhere (here?) that money had been made (hotels, bars, Spar?). But they may well lose way more in the longrun as United aren't allowed to have parades etc. and big clubs are no longer even allowed in the centre. Other businesses like us, based in the centre, gained nothing and lost half a day as people got the fuck out of town. Myself, I'd let anyone back here who can proved they have an IQ higher than an amoeba. Both of them...

all well and good but most weren't up for being told what to do by about 10am

there's nowt anyone could've done to plan and control them that day

OH DEAR, the gers are proud to be a british club, and would not like an association with the emerald isle. ulster maybe ..

and it is not a question of transport links to manc u. the gers fans have to meet at wigan , and can only collect their match tickets once on an official rangers bus to the theatre of screams.

So none of the rangers fans have bloody hand of ulster tattoos and get really caught up in the whole norn iron conflict thing then?

I was using the emerald isle as a catch all term for eire and Norn Iron

An educated guess would have been adequate. Everyone knew there was going to be that many, I even heard quote of ?150,000+ in the days leading up to the game. "They" are the people who organised the places to watch the match, food, drink, etc, assume it was Manc Council. Whoever it was could have found somewhere better than Piccadilly to set up the fanzone. Bad planning.

I agree that the army should have been used - marched north to turn the fvckers back at the border!
