Whizz Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I moved house last year, and changed my broadband server. I hardly ever need to send emails, but recently needed to and I couldn't. A message pops up telling me an unknown error has occured. Any advice on what I need to do? Quote

Whizz Posted January 21, 2011 Author Posted January 21, 2011 Just done that, they want ?11 if I am satisfied with their answer. What's all that about? Someone must know, enough geeks on here. I imagine it is something simple. Change from pop3 to IMAP or the other one, I don't know. I don't want to mess about and fuck it up. Quote
Site Supporter HomerJay Posted January 21, 2011 Site Supporter Posted January 21, 2011 Open a gmail account. or hotmail. or ring talktalk tech support?? Quote
Traf Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 or ring talktalk tech support?? Now you're just being silly. Why ask the so-called experts when you can ask the notrights of WW? Quote
Happy Wanderer Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Was with Virgin, now with TalkTalk. They should provide as part of your package with email details and how to set it up. virgin would have been something like tosser@virginmedia.com talk shite would be shitservice@opal.com You need different credentials for each (pop3 username and password, smtp ...) ZiggyStardust Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 I'm guessing that your trying to use your old settings. In which case, when you connect to the outgoing mail server, its basically saying 'fuck off, this is for Virgin customers, not talk talk ones' Create a new account with gmail, hotmail or talk talk. That will be ?11 please. Quote
Traf Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Woah, steady on: I suggested a new account first. Send me ?9.90 (10% discount) Quote
Bigtoe Posted January 24, 2011 Posted January 24, 2011 Use a carrier pigeon to send messages Thats ?9.89 please (1p discount against Traf) Quote
