Coyle

i could list the ones who won't hear a word against him who will be all over this like a rash....

but i don't care

bar a month of this season, the football has been dire

in that month, the attacking play was top notch

his tactics aren't working and he doesn't appear to have a clue what to do

maybe when megson has told you day in day out that you're shite, a bloke sticking his arm around your shoulder is just what the doctor ordered

but, there comes a point where telling 'em they're great isn't enough

i don't think the players are shit, but they're playing shit

this is when he earns his corn

bumming up the fans telling us how good we are?

yeah, its nice to hear but it doesn't win games

today was shite

absolute fcuking shite

i think training is what most of this comes down to

i hear set peices etc have taken a back seat to one touch five a side in training

the players certainly don't seem to be able to last a match like we used to under fat sam, who had fitness pretty much nailed

Even thats not fooking working some of our first touches are awful

genuine question

for one month we have seen that this squad, pretty much the same one megson had to work with, can play football

but for most of the last 3 years, they haven't or struggle to

so what do you need to do to keep it up?

you forget i was able to see your face watching that rubbish yesterday ;)

fact is, so long as we stay up, i'm happy, always have been, but the fact remains that we had hundreds telling us megson didn't have a clue

generally, nowts changed

most of megson's problems started off the pitch, not on it

is this the way of things these days?

lets drag megson into every thread to avoid any discussion of coyles obvious failings?

no

you said nowt's changed

the only thing that has changed is off the pitch

both have the same squad

both will have a full season where they finish midtable with some highlights but mainly turd

as long as we stay up we're happy

so what you moaning about?

you started it

the other thing that has changed is you wouldn't slag off the last manager but will this one

so what's changed?

as long as Spurs and Newcastle are good piss ups, I'll be happy

we'll play 4-4-2 and probably get bummed in both of them

so nothing's changed

megson was a cunt though

  • Author

i didn't slag off the previous manager cos i accepted where we were was probably where we ought to be

i was told many times that megson was cunt and players weren't playing for him

(ironically we played as well against city about a fortnight before he went as we ever played under him or coyle)

megson was supposedly a twat in the dressing room

well, i argue coyle could learn a lot

theres some middle ground and coyle needs to find it, fast

i fear he won't/can't

his great motivational skills have led to some gutless performances really

if he plays 4-4-2 at spurs, we're gonna get dicked

that would be negligent

i didn't slag off the previous manager cos i accepted where we were was probably where we ought to be

we're in 10th so what's changed????

problem is away from home when it comes to 4-4-2

he's tried changing the personnel to makes us more solid, like at Stoke, made no difference

they've ran out of steam

if that can't pass and move using 4-4-2 though, can't see why they would in 4-5-1, the only adavantage would be we'd have one shit striker playing instead of two

said it before, say it again, something has to change in training

the players shouldn't run out of steam in Jan or become strangers on the pitch in the space of a month or two

think that's where Coyle needs to focus, stamina/fitness/alertness/confidence - it seems to have disappeared, not sure head tennis is the way forward

not looking forward to Weds in all honesty either

We now have a manager who engages and acknowledges our support even though our support on the whole is dire. We started this season steadily, and for a short period in autumn played some of the most entertaining football seen at the Reebok, in the process picking up some valuable wins. We then lose 2 of our most talented players, over the busiest period and with a small squad fail to succesfully cope without them.

Despite that we could have picked up points at Chelsea and Liverpool. Our recent failings are more to do with a squad/team of players running on empty, granted we should at times go 4-5-1.

In this window we have brought in Wheater and been unfortunate to miss out on Vela and possibly SWP, these 3 players would not have signed for us under Megsons regime, so Coyle has changed the perception of BWFC in 12 months.

Rome was not built in a day and especially not on a limited budget. Coyle is still learning the game at this level, but the longer he stays, and the more experience he gains, the better for us.

We are still in a reasonable position and if we can freshen up the squad, we can finish in the top half of the table, that would represent good progress. I really feel folk need to take a reality check.

Why would nt wheater have signed under megson? Taylor, Cahill and Steinsson were all signed for at least as much money and despite interest of other teams.

Of 3 you mention 2 would nt sign for us under coyle either.

SWP has stated he like coyles style, and is interested in signing, Vela like Wilshere would not have come with a million miles under Megson, granted Wheater might have come, but more likely to sign for a positive manager in my opinion.

Seems Coyle, like fat sam, is guilty of raising folks expectations

Codswallop

Coyle has stated his aim is to improve year on year - we're having an iffy spell but on this time last year we've improved no doubt we're having a sticky spell yes but we always will have due to our level of player and small squad.

If you don't think Coyle is a better manager than Megson then you're very much in the minority but maybe that's what you're looking to be - seperate you from all the "sheep" - coyles making mistakes but he's a young inexperienced manager he's bound to, I can live with that on the basis that most in football and his own players seem to rate him very highly

People questioning Coyle need their fucking head testing. We are struggling at the moment but had a great start. The guy needs time to build his team, Megson left him some good players but also left him some shit. We have played some cracking football never seen under megson. If we had started crap and creeped up to tenth people would singing from the rooftops. Lets get real, it takes time and we need to be patient even though it is frustrating at times.

maybe theres a reason for that

i can accept folk making mistakes, in fact i sometimes do it myself

what i don't accept is the same 'mistakes' being made week in, week out

lets ask a question...why did cahill not play with wheater yesterday?

the ONLY explanation i could accept would be cahill leaving tomorrow

so, what changed

if they're fcuked, they're going to stay fcuked

if they've no confidence....why?

OC's quote on radio after the game was "Saving him for Wednesday."

My take on it was, "Making him more sellable"

I think we have a problem with CYL in that he's been away playing a lot of football. He's not returning with fresh legs.

Right Cas surely you are now just being contrary...what's changed, player wise not much coyles not had chance to put his stamp on the squad yet that's when he can truely be judged but crucially for me this is what has changed............

football management is 9 parts pyscology & 1 part technical for example ferguson (dare I say it) shankly clough allardyce redknapp to name but a few tactical genius no but ability to lift players inspire enthuse it's all there & that is what has changed we have a manager with that ability charisma spark (dont get me wrong coyles along way to go to prove he's in the same category as the aforemnetioned managers) - doesnt always work no but it's a damn site easier to be successful than being say houllier beneitez neal mcfarland and of course sir gingerness.......lifted players is why notts county just drew with man city and with pretty much the same players we've produced more points and some outstanding football with pretty much the same squad under coyle as we did under megson

how so?

my view is that if/when coyle realises knight is not a 'footballer' cahill and wheater will have to play their first game together in the league

doubt it, am led to beleive we've never had an enquiry of any sort for Cahill in his time with us

If he does go I think it'll be in the summer, and then wheater will play alongside knight full time

Yesterday was a chance to try something different in the middle of defence for first time in a while, and why not, we got a clean sheet too, bonus

how so?

my view is that if/when coyle realises knight is not a 'footballer' cahill and wheater will have to play their first game together in the league

I would have thought a team still in the FA Cup looking for a decent centre half would look at a good one that's eligible to play rather than one that is cup-tied. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't think sitting on the bench and not actually taking part cup-ties Cahill.

when i said what changed, i mean since newcastle and a much lesser extent blackpool

Fair enough - freshness and a bit of zip for me has played a big part not having enough competition for places due mainly to injuries and tiredness thanks to the xmas period - also we played Chelsea twice & Liverpool away tough fixtures....performances havent been great but when was the last time we lost a game we could reasonably have expected to win?
