Breathtaking build up play, quality finishing, what a team that was, did we really appreciate how good we were?  And the pitch stripes! A thing of beauty.  What a time to be a Wanderer. Just checked on Poole he was 40 and after he finished with us played another 123 pro games and finished playing 2014… that’s some effort.

was a 5.30pm game just before christmas

got on it early doors so was nicely oiled by the time the match started - spent most the time under the stand and missed the first two goals

at 2-0 they shut the bars so we decided to go to scotts and carry on watching there

was pissing it down so had to leg it and by the time we got in Scotts it was 4-0

so whilst being there managed to miss all 4 goals

Meldrew missed all 6 in a 4 2 win at Leeds

There was a 6 1 defeat at notts county when you couldve missed 4 by going with the travel Club

Superb performance was there that night, took a Liverpool fan he wasn’t best pleased, didn’t realise Kevin Poole was in goal he must have been about 40.

Yeah 40/41 born in 1963 . Look how close he was to their 2nd equaliser . Any other keeper 1" taller would have saved it , but then we wouldnt have the drama we did .

The Okocha free kick was superb, but before he took it we'd also got Djorkaeff & Campo over the ball. Incredible options.

For anyone that hasnt seen the full match . Tho it is available on dvd. The move for the second goal was a thing of beauty no matter what you may say about the challenge. Gregg fitting in the goal after coming round from unconsciousness .....

If you are of a certain age there was nobody more Bolton than this man , and his goals dont even begin to tell the story .

The best £65,000 ever spent. came out of retirement 3 times for the cause .

The word legend gets bandied about far too often these days, buying a round or giving someone a lift can make you a 'legend', but this guy really was/is a Bolton legend. Absolute bargain, he just oozed class. Calm and collected a proper leader, but also as hard as nails and popped up with some vital goals.
