Its very strange , all the buttons work but do different functions to those allocated . I.E , Play =rewind , FF = stop , record = eject , tracking = changes channels etc etc . Lost me rag with it and nearly launched it thru a window.

I assume it still does but there are no longer any codes to input . Used it loads for highlight videos but only once for a live match that had lenghty delays and loads of added time so the recording cut off before the final whistle . Never again .

wasnt designed for that. you were always safer padding time to the end using the normal manual recording timing thing.

someone anonymously 'released' a tool to work out the codes , probably not official, but its still up after 18 years , so.. legal people mustnt be that bothered.

i dunno how long the codes were designed to last, but id guess that 2038 year 'bug' (like that y2k one) might have summat to do with it.

Big Sam was immense that day, he did everything to try to get us over the line.

One of the great things about the BSA management era at Bolton is that one of the great influences on his was Ian Greaves and they occasionally spoke together during the 2000s before Greaves's death. A thread that runs between two of BWFC's most successful eras.

That's when my dad started taking me as a little kid, and it's probably the era I have most affection for.

But it's a stretch to call it one of our most successful eras.

If anything, it was a failure to re-establish ourselves as a top flight team and led directly to the disaster that was the 1980s. A tale of what might have been.

Still probably my favourite era though. Magical times, mid to late 70s.

You are not wrong in what you say but when you compare the Greaves era against what happened in the 60s and early 70s and then after it in the 80s its like chalk and cheese. It was certainly considered successful in its day and stirred big interest in the town.

There’s an argument that our most successful era was the 1920s. 3 FA Cup wins when winning it was just as important as winning the league. No European footy in those days obvs

60s was dreadful according to my dad. Having been to Wembley twice in the 50s the fall from grace was monumental in his words

He loved the 70s and that was my era and if I’m honest I preferred it to the BSA years. Probably a toss-tinted spectacles thing about being a kid and first getting into BWFC though

The league was nice but the cup was everything . Finale to the season and the game that everyone watched or wanted to read about . Only really started to change when winning the league put you into the European Cup . Or so Ive heard . I wasnt there personally.

No doubt it was ace. Wasn't around for the before, but the after was a shitshow.

Overwhelming feeling though is of a massive missed opportunity and virtually bankrupted us in the process. The 2 clubs that came up with us stayed up for donkey's years, and in Spurs' case have been there ever since.

On second thoughts, thank fuck we're not Spurs.
