Yes, but no

Over the past 18 seasons of the PL, the average no. of points needed to finish 6th is 60.7 and 57.6pts would get you 7th.

If you disregard the two highest and two lowest points tallies in those 18 seasons, the averages are 6th place with 60.4pts and 7th place with 57.5pts.

So, to finish 6th, we'd need another 25pts from 11 games (8-1-3).

And for 7th place (hoping the cups go the right way!): another 22pts from the 11 games (6-4-1 or 7-1-3)

Current form suggests we'll get 15pts and finish with 51pts.

Yes, but no

Im guessing we need arsenal win the mickey mouse against Birm. We'd also need the cup final to be two of the top teams (assuming we dont make it). Then we'd need pass Sunderland and come 7tth -top six is not acheivable, Liverpool will definitely keep pulling away.

Im guessing we'd probably need low 50s in points, 52, 53 maybe. Five wins and cpl of draws. We'd really have to improve our horrific away form whilst beating teams who could be around as at home - sunderland, villa.

Best chance of europe is sending wigan packing, hopefully getting a draw at fulham and winning a replay and then getting a good sixth round draw.

I cant see either happening personally (7th or cup final) but stranger things have!

cheers statto

I think we will finish 8 or 9th in the league. Europe will depend on FA cup imo. If we sneak through the two ties this week and get a decent draw weve got half a chance.

no

do well to finish top half

as in

I think we will

and it'll be a job well done

but not top 7

If we win three of the next four prem games then we have a chance, if not then we'll just have to win The Cup.

Getting to the final of the fa cup could be enough as long as we played against a team already qualified for europe.

There seems to be a more even spread of points this season in the league. Shouldn't higher points totalls in the lower half of the table lead to a reduction in points required for higher positions?

aye but only bloody just!

We've beat Everton, we have a chance of beating Newcastle at their gaff. The run has started to drive us on!!!!!

Not a fuckin chance I'm afraid to say

Spot on HR

Need about 55 points this season for 7th and 58 for 6th

Arsenal win the league cup and two champions league teams get to the cup final (or us) then I reckon we can do it.

Newcastle away is going to be a big un

FA cup final would be brilliant never mind Europe.

FA Cup Final now involves two trips to the Big Smoke. One for the semis and one for the final. I'd be pissed off if we got a Northern club in the semis and both had to go to Wemberlee instead of O/T.

Micky read that through again, would you really be pissed off at the chance to go and watch our club play at Wembley? I understand where your coming from with the fact it would be far easier to just play it at old Trafford, but seen as I am yet to see BWFC play at Wembley, I don't think I would be too annoyed if we went down for the semi's and then had to go back down there for the final.

And that's where me and you differ. I've seen them play at Wembley a few times 2 playoffs, a semi-final, a final, a minor cup final. The addition of a steel arch above the stadium doesn't impress me enough to want to go and see it twice for the same trophy.

is eddies dob about to define his bwfc jcl status.

I'm not sure but I think it was changed last season. The fa cup runners up no longer get a uefa place if the winners have already qualified. It goes to another place in the league!!!

Well, speaking from experience chaps. It did not take any magic or anything away from it for me. The semi was amazing, as was the final.....almost like 2 final's really considering who we played !

Plus.....we have been to the new Wembley more than the RS !

I think only the final should be at wembley, i love the idea of a semi-final at a neutral venue.

It wont ever happen again

If he's never seen us play at Wembley he can't be that old. We've played there quite a few times in the last 20 years or so.

It didnt, the runner up still gets it if the winner is a champions league qualifier.

Its in that pile of shite below if you want to check.
