March 18, 201115 yr If Man City win the FA Cup and end up finishing 5th in the league, I am sure the EL place reverts back to the league (6th place) rather than the loosing finalist..... Is this correct?
March 18, 201115 yr That's what I heard, you aren't going to get a correct answer on here as it's all speculation.
March 18, 201115 yr PS as we play Citeh at home on the last day then we can throw that. I know there have been times when losing may affect rival teams, by letting your opponent win it may cause another team to get relegated and so on, happens all the time, and they always say "we'll have to try our best blah de blah".. But has there ever been a match, anywhere, were losing directly benefits the losing team themselves? If we go into the final day of the season stuck in a league place where winning/losing makes no difference in terms of our league position, but giving City the win means they finish in the top 4 and we then get into Europe... could the powers that be do anything if we just went out and kicked the ball 10 times into our own net???
March 18, 201115 yr I don't know anything other than if that's the case I'll be lumping it on down at Bet Fred.

March 18, 201115 yr well keep it quiet, some bookies are aware. Any bookie with half a brain will have it sorted. We all going to Betfred then? :: City will be favs anyway and especially if they need to win to get in CL. Add to that the fact we might be playing for virtually nothing and the odds will be shit to start with.
March 20, 201115 yr Bear in mind that the club effectively threw Europe away last time, so I wouldn't be putting any hard-earned on owt if that was to happen.

March 23, 201115 yr City are NOT guaranteed a Champions League place by finishing 4th - if Chelsea or Spurs finish lower but win this season's Champions league they will take one of England's 4 spots (this rule was made watertight after the Liverpool/Everton fiasco). 4th in the Premier League would then drop to the Europa League and winning the FA Cup takes precedence in qualifying for Europe, so the next placed league team would qualify and not the FA Cup runners -up. The final set of league fixtures includes not only Bolton v City but also Everton v Chelsea. If Bolton qualify as FA Cup WINNERS or 5th in the league they will join the Europa League in 4th Qualifying Round, starting on August 18th. If they qualify as Cup runners-up they will be England's third representative, behind Birmingham City as League Cup winners, and will start in the 3rd Qualifying Round, starting on July 28th. If they finish 6th in the league and Cup runners-up they will be ranked before Birmingham and will start in the 4th QR (unless Chelsea or Spurs finish lower but win the Champions league...). If England gains one of the three additional Fair Play places (beginning in 1st QR on 30 June!!) as at 28/2 the English FP league is headed by Chelsea (likely to qualified by other means), Fulham, ManU (???) and Blackpool. The prospect of Prestatyn v Blackpool in the Europa League is almost tempting.
March 23, 201115 yr "If they qualify as Cup runners-up they will be England's third representative, behind Birmingham City as League Cup winners, and will start in the 3rd Qualifying Round, starting on July 28th." Fucking bingo!
March 23, 201115 yr Author "If they qualify as Cup runners-up they will be England's third representative, behind Birmingham City as League Cup winners, and will start in the 3rd Qualifying Round, starting on July 28th." Fucking bingo! But only if the winners are not City, who have finished 5th (or 4th and Spurs/Chelsea finish lower but win the Champs league).... Easiest way if that Red Scum win the saturday before our match
