IPad 1 you will be able to get some good deals on in the next couple of months, with the new one coming out in the UK in the next couple of days/weeks.

I personally think the IPad 2 is a little too far for what you need, therefore IPad for the cost it will be once the new one is out will be a bargain.

I have a 16GB IPad 1, and I can do anything on it.

With regards their competition at the moment on the market I dont think there is anything that can touch it.

I've got an iphone, I can't see anything an iPad can do that I need. I can't watch online football whereas our crappy old netbook is fine. By online I mean video from the betting sites. I believe there's an iPad iPlayer app that for some odd reason isn't available on iPhone. However, I've got a PC hooked up to the tele for that or again, the netbook.

I'd also recommend an ipad, assuming you can get a good deal on the first gen. I've got a 16gb one.

The drawback of not supporting flash isn't as bad as I'd expected it to be. You can still watch Youtube, veoh, vimeo, tvcatchup and BBC iplayer on it. If you have access to a computer over wifi you can also use zumocast to stream avi, mpeg etc to it. There's itunes too obviously.

but you can do all that (not sure about the itunes bit) and more on other tablets.

and more again on a proper netbook.

i really, really dont understand the point of tablet pc's. they came out years ago and they everyone said they were shite. now apple bring out a big iphone and theyre brilliant!?

must admit, I was going to buy one for Mrs CWP a few months ago, she actually talked me out of it and we got a decent netbook. her sister got an Ipad, and wishes now that she hadn't, as now the novelty of the touchscreen has worn off, she's realised it's really not very good at all
