Speaking to my mate whos a Villa fan, Houllier doesnt rate him as he cannot cross a ball, or pass that well, other than that hes a cracking player, so more of a defensive left back than at attacking overlapping one etc etc

Or in others words, not for us.

Having finally worked up the courage to watch the semi-final highlights last night, it has added to me thoughts that a pair of full backs must be high on the list of Coyle's priorities this season. I've lost count know of the number of goals we've conceded that leaves you thinking that Steinson could have done more or better to prevent. I have him with a share of blame on Stoke's 3rd, 4th and 5th goals - the 5th was so typical of his lack of concentration this season when a cross to the back post finds Steinson AWOL with the oppostion attacker in loads of space.

Robbo has done well at times this season doing a great covering job that Steinson doesn't but put under pressure on Sunday he (although not the only one!) crumbled. His hoofed clearance in the second half into centre field straight to a Stoke player was poor, not as bad as that "pass" for the first Stoke goal - watching the highlights it looks even worse - just who was that aimed at?

...therefore the a link with a fullback like Stephen Warnock is the kind of player we need this summer.

so does he just run around a lot??

If we've got ?2m to splash I'd much rather it be on a RB. Robinson, whilst not everyone's cup of tea, is a far, far better defender than Steinsson.

Gretski, much as I love his passion, regularly gets raped by any half-decent winger who can dribble.

Besides, Coyle obviously signed Alonso as Robbo's successor, so to sign Warnock would make no sense IMO.

Anyway, Warnock's got a funny nose - a bit like those people in The Grinch.

Samuel is out of contract in the summer & I can't see him getting another. Ricketts won't be fit until late September time, assuming everything goes to plan.

We're alright at LB with Robbo & Alonso, Taylor can play there as could Gardner if he gets a new contract.

We need a right back!

Glad someone else sees it.

Id have warnock for 2m

full backs?

a bit of protection wouldn't go amiss

True, it would help id agree. Petrov is horrific for non protecting.

Steinssons positional play at times is terrible though

Posted

Our weakest position is left wing imo. Petrov is dogshit and Taylor cant seem to hit any kind of form. Whoever plays left back for us Robinson, Alonso, Maldini or ashley Cole it wont make fuck all difference if the guy in front of him doesnt help him out. Petrov and Taylor cant fucking attack or defend.

Right, without sounding like I am on the wind up.

Everyone else on the planet could see Robinson, Steinson and the like are wank.

You had a really good PATCH, which made most of you think you were World Beaters and had 11 top draw players week in week out.

Cahill and Maybe Chungy, are the only players that could get into most other teams,Special Mention for Holden and Davies, but lets see if they can play wellfor more than 6 months.

Only Blackpool have a Worse squad than Bolton, just so happens you have one of the best Managers around, that can get the best out of average players.

Your not 5 Nill worse than Stoke, but that score has been coming, your not all that.

Maybe it was good, a bit of a wake up to some of you.

as wank a robbo and steinsson are, they are 2/3 milliion pound players (take age out of the equasion for robbo), who have got us to a semifinal and ith 8th spot.

we would only be able to spend a couple of million on a player as a decent prospect from a smaller club, a player out of favour, or an over the hill decent fullback.

in the current state, im happy to go as we are (unless some real bargain comes along obvioulsy)

You would be very lucky to get that for the both of the combined.

tbf you cant really put a price on any player until theyre in demand.

but i think the likes of blackpool/brum/wigan would happily pay 2m for steinsson

Isn't Steinsson out of contract at the end of this season?
