Our record since Promotion in Lancs derbies (excluding the big city clubs) in Prem fixture is poor. As outlined below. Why is this? It can only be because other teams are more up for it than us. Whatever the reason, its about time it was addressed - and Saturday would be a good time to start.

v Blackburn: Won 4 Drawn 9 Lost 7

v Wigan: Won 3 Drawn 5 Lost 4

v Burnley: Won 1 Drawn 1 Lost 0

v Blackpool Won 0 Drawn 1 Lost 0

Total: Won 8 Drawn 16 Lost 11

They're better than us?

I must admit, most folk think were in the top four NW based clubs after United, Liverpool and City. Though it pains me to say this, we're a bit behind Everton as well and only just above or on a par with the Blackburn, Blackpool and Wigan.

There's not sufficient points gap between us and those at the bottom compared with us and those at the top.

It is often said take a look at the league table at the end of the season. I'm looking right now. We really aren't as good as many folk think we are.

I think we have overachieved this season with a squad that is relegation material plus Stuart Holden.

Seriously I think Wigan have at least 3 attacking players who would walk into the Bolton side. The difference between Bolton and Wigan this season is the standard of the manager for me.Martinez has been picking negative 5 man midfields and drawing matches they should have won whereas Coyle has gone for it and been rewarded for his bravery.

Nonsense. Over the course of the season we have been superior in central defence (Cahill/Knight versus Alcarez/Caldwell is no contest).

Our first choice central midfield has also been more consistent (Muamba/Holden versus McCarthy/Watson/whoever).

We have also supplied them with their goalkeeper who is one of their best players.

I will give you NZogbia, Rodellaga and Cleverly but you are joking to suggest the main difference is the manager.

Another Lancs Derby. Another defeat.

We're better off if two of Blackpool, Blackburn and Wigan go down. Given that we are in and around these teams in the Prem (OK Blakcpool have only had one season) shows this track record up to me even more poor. Its just points lots every season.

24 points from wins, 16 from draws = 40 points from 35 games.....aint a million miles off normal league form......where we have 46 from 37........

or is the argument that we think the other teams are shit ane we should do better? when we first casme up bburn were finishing above us wigan had a good first season....

When you factor in that points against the likes of Liverpool, United, Arsenal and Chelsea are difficult to come by, form against those in mid table and the lower reaches would needs on average to be much better than 40 points from 36 games. I can only think of Fulham as an example of a team that would fall in those latter categories who we do equally badly against. Given that local pride is at stake in what are some of English football's oldest fixtures, its a bit depressing that the club can't seem to raise itself to compete in these games like the opposition do. Not often enough at least.

Right then....we have one poster who always goes on about never beating the top teams. Now we have someone going on about doing badly in local derbies. Shall we have one about how we do against teams based in the midlands? It doesn't really fucking matter as long as we pick up points against other teams like we have done.

The fact is apart from the top 5 or 6 the rest of the teams are on a par with each other and can beat each other on any given day.

Picking up points is picking up points, doesn't matter who against, unless personally you really want bragging rights over 'rivals', friends etc.

At one time we had a London phobia too. It's all boll0cks as long as the points are won somewhere, as you say.

Would be nicer to beat local rivals of course.

to be fair if you take out the teams we have a good record against then we do have a poorer record against the others.

Made me laugh on MOTD when it said we haven't won in the league since 19whatever it was at Bloomfield Road. Well that's because we have hardly played them in the league since then. When was the last time Man Utd beat Torquay at Plainmoor in the league? Fooking never cos they haven't played them so why do they come with such shite stats.

They trot those "facts" out every week....and it always involves the teams that have just been promoted. I don't have a clue why they do it, it would be much better if they just told it like it is.........

"And Liverpool/Arsenal/Everton etc haven't won at Bloomfield Road since 1952......that's because Blackpool have been piss poor for the last 50 odd years and have been playing the likes of Rochdale and Gillingham in the lower divisions"

We've never beaten Scunthorpe in the league at home, nor have we scored a home league goal against them.

We've haven't beaten them away from home in the league either.

Isolated facts prove fuck all.
