paulhanley Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Daily Star reckons we're competing with Glasgow Rangers to sign him from Southampton. Seemed to do well on loan at Blackpool but have to admit I've not much clue just how good he is. Daily Mail reckons Ali Al Habsi to Villa. We'd surely be wanting ?3m for him.
lrevolution Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I thought he looked alright the other week at blackpool, scored a good goal. what about dj campbell? think he'd be a great signing & would probably flourish even further under coyle.
jules_darby Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Spoke to a Wiggin fan this week about Al Habsi; he thought (and I'd not heard this) that they had an option to buy in January for ?5m but didn't take it up
Guest Blixa Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Al Habsi - player of the year for a Prem team under his belt? ?3 million is on the low side. If Villa are keen, we should be looking at ?5 millon+.

The toys came out of the pram at Saints because the likes of Alex Ox and Adam Lallana were keeping him out of a League One side. He went out on loan to Millwall and did pretty well, but got shipped out to Blackpool straight away on his return to St Mary's. He's not done badly at Blackpool but he did only start six games. In short, I don't see as he's going to improve our squad, or even be better than the players we've just shipped out. Not for me.
Site Supporter HomerJay Posted May 25, 2011 Site Supporter Posted May 25, 2011 who is jason puncheon?
passmosster Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 who is jason puncheon? Didn't he play on the left wing against us in the Carling? Thing is we are bloody short of left wingers, aren't we?
Moderators Zico Posted May 25, 2011 Moderators Posted May 25, 2011 who is jason puncheon? scored Blackpool's 2nd against us last week
BURNDEN BILLY Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I heard from someone I call someone reliable, that it would be ?5 mil min for Al Habsi. I wouldnt write him off as first choice at the Reebok next season, Jussi didnt have the best season in my opinion. I think Campbell would be a great addition.
enzo gambaro Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Didn't he play on the left wing against us in the Carling? Thing is we are bloody short of left wingers, aren't we? We've got two. We can only play one at once. So no.
Members DazBob Posted May 25, 2011 Members Posted May 25, 2011 Didn't he play well against us in the Carling Cup? Presumably Coyle's had hie eye on him since then, plus he scored a belter against us the other week. Can't say I'm overly excited, but I'm not going to start moaning without giving him a chance (that's IF we do sign him).
anewman Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 No disrespect to jason puncheon, but anybody could of scored against us last season, even joleon fuckin lescott

BURNDEN BILLY Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Why not look at repatriating Nicolas Anelka? The word is that he is about to be shown the door at Chelski. He enjoyed being a big fish in a little pool here at Bolton, he said he enjoyed every minute of his stay and was very very sad to be going. Before someone mentions money................I know we havent got the money citeh have got, we could have a cash cows in both Al Habsi (or Jussi) and Cahill, we have our money for TV and PL, if we can get him for ?8-9 mil, negotiate his wages more to appearances, goals and performance, what a buy.

TheReebokBear Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Puncheon is a winger in a 4-4-2. He needs to set things up. He didn't create anything for Blackpool, he just looked to shoot every time. I think he's talented, but I'm not a fan of selfish wingers in a 4-4-2.
Traf Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 i thought that this morning. im sure i heard he was being released? cant happen though, can it? Anelka's not being released, but they will listen to offers. They'll want at least ?8m, though.
paulhanley Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 Anelka's not being released, but they will listen to offers. They'll want at least ?8m, though. For 12-18 months it would probably be a good deal. But I can't see Coyle spending ?8m on a 32-year-old. I think Bolton will be in the business of signing players who have a re-sale value in 2-3 years time. Or as Gartside says frequently "we're a trading club".
Site Supporter HomerJay Posted May 25, 2011 Site Supporter Posted May 25, 2011 nobody is paying 8m for anelka, he's 32.
MalcolmW Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Did we by any chance have a sell-on clause in the sale of Anelka? 10+% discount would help.
